It is shocking how compass towing deep south staff are vultures and threaten people who have left their company to work for another. A friend of mine used to work for them and showed me messages from a female staff member from compass towing deep south saying how she is going to hit him financially and it's not a threat it's promise. Shocking how someone like this can represent such a big company.

Dear Hellopeter, I wish to share my experience with Compass Towing, a towing company in Retreat, Cape Town. Last weekend my car was in an accident, and Compass Towing towed my vehicle to their storage yard. Upon my request, Compass Towing then made me an offer for my vehicle, which I accepted. Administrator Bianca promised me twice - once on the phone when negotiating the sale and the other time in person yesterday (Thursday) morning when I went to sign the sale document - that I would receive immediate payment. Guess what? It's more than 24 hours later and I have still not been paid! I have done everything that was required of me by Compass Towing, but still no payment! I have been to the company's office twice and made several follow-up phone calls, but without success. Now, what I'd like to know is: How professional is this company really if this is the extremely unprofessional way in which they treat customers? From their business card, I see that they deal with leading insurers such as Santam, Mutual&Federal, Hollard and Outsurance. Do these insurance companies know how Compass Towing deals with its customers? Thanks for reading this post. Michael

On 23 January 2023 my car broke down in Ottery. I was convinced by one of the tow truck drivers that they’re also good mechanics and can fix the vehicle. After paying R6000 and waiting until April, the vehicle wasn’t touched.

On the 15th March, the towing company Compass s****ped my Ford Fiesta and took off the side mirror on the passenger side of the vehicle. The driver at the time denied it and told my wife who was the driver at the time that she was at fault when he was the one who was driving on the wrong side of the road tying to get to an accident scene before another towing company gets to the scene, I drove on the wrong side of the road into on coming traffic when he took off the side mirror, When my wife confronted him he was quick to say my wife was at fault. The owner/manager is known as Graeme and the reg no. CAA 262776 was their vehicle in involved. When I went to the scene they tried to convince me my wife was wrong and showed no concern that I now need to drive with a missing side mirror. After I had to run around getting pricing as the Ford is not insured he just casually tells me via Whatsapp that he will give all the details to his insurance which is 10 days later and still no response from Compass or their insurance. I had to get another mirror because it is difficult to drive in traffic with no side mirror.

We had a minor bumper crash at a traffic circle and Compass Towing were on the scene in a flash. We picked up the in-tact fog light and broken headlights from the road and put them in our car for safety but forgot to lock the car. Whilst taking photo's of the offending vehicle, we saw W*****, a short assistant to the unfriendly tow truck driver, go into our unlocked car. We dashed back to the car as he got out but he ran back to the tow truck, returning to tell us that there was something wrong with the front wheel; his reason for being inside our car. After filling in a report at the police station, we drove home. Only then, we noticed that the lights and the fittings we had picked up earlier in the road and put in the car for safety, were missing. It then became clear why W***** had been inside our car. Nothing wrong with the wheel! He 'took' the lights and must have hid them in his overalls and put them in the tow truck. After months of searching, when we wanted to have another fog light fitted, his reason for helping himself to our lights became clear. This fog light replacement cannot be sourced anywhere. We are still looking... Compass Towing must have known this was a rare find, making it a very valuable fog light. If Compass Tokai/Retreat/Southern Suburbs, Cape Town, ever stop to "help", don't leave your car unlocked as they must not be trusted. Tell them to leave you alone!

Great service from this towing company. My car broke down on the M5 and Compass was there within 10 minutes. The driver of the tow truck made sure I would be safe in the traffic by getting me into the safety of his cab while he loaded my car and then delivered me and my car to a workshop.
