Evening parking at Dainfern Square has long been problematic. Congestion is common and exiting the centre can take an unreasonable amount of time.
The introduction of the new parking system has significantly worsened the situation. On one occasion, I sat for approximately thirty minutes trying to leave. There was no assistance and no communication. I eventually paid for parking purely to exit the centre. For safety reasons, I do not use my card or banking app at exit booms.
I returned again recently, despite my concerns. Pay stations have now been installed around the centre, with no option to pay cash. This system is not functioning properly. I had to walk between multiple pay stations to find one that would accept my card. Other customers followed, experiencing the same problem.
After paying R12 for less than an hour of parking, I was confronted by an aggressive car guard who demanded money when I exited the centre.
Leaving the parking area was again chaotic. Traffic was backed up into the parking bays, making it impossible for some drivers to reverse out of their parking spaces. Eventually, staff opened the exit booms to relieve the congestion.
The parking situation is poorly managed, unsafe, and inconsistent. I will no longer shop at Dainfern Square.
