As an engineer, I expect a "Professional Series" tool to be serviceable. DeWalt has failed this basic standard. I recently attempted to replace the chuck on my DCD796 (Type 1). This is a standard consumable part. I was informed by your authorized service agents that due to a factory manufacturing decision (excessive torque/Loctite without a retaining *****), the chuck cannot be removed without destroying the gearbox. I was quoted R1,930.00 to replace the entire transmission assembly just to fix a seized chuck. This is roughly 70% of the cost of a new machine. This represents a fundamental shift in DeWalt’s philosophy from "Repairable Workhorse" to "Disposable Appliance." It is unacceptable to force customers to replace capital components (gearboxes) because of a consumable failure. To my fellow engineers and contractors: Be aware that DeWalt’s current designs may lock you into exorbitant repair costs for minor failures. I will no longer be supporting this brand.

Purchased 2 vacuums that didn’t come cheap. They have broken once a month every month since I purchased them. My older units that are a different brand and half the price have lasted way longer and endured the same working conditions. I will not support this company again.

I bought a brand new DeWalt cordless drill from builders. Almost R5000. 3weeks, chuck breaks, take it to a recomended place, Toolnet. 9weeks later get the drill back fitted with Metabo chuck. Had to pay R516 for the chuck because its Metabo. 1week of use, the Hammer action does not work at all.. Contacted DeWalt from floor to Sales Manager, no one comes back with answers, no one wants to help! Why buy brand names if I dont have any aftersales service?? Might aswell buy china brand and just chuck it out when it breaks!! Never again will I buy, recomend or support DeWalt.

I bought a cordless drill last year August. The chuck let the drillbits come loose while drilling. Talk to dewalt SA and they suggested I take it to Toolnet Vanderbiljpark. I did so. Now I'm waiting already 8weeks for it. Can it be so difficult to replace the chuck. Contacted them several times and no feedback

DeWalt, a brand thats suppose to be synonymous with quality. Now that may be possible however,if it wasn't for the fact that they discontinue there tools too soon.As the proud owner of a DeWalt *****driver I'm told that the batteries are no longer available. In pristine condition this tool is now merely a door stop.DeWalt response is,buy the newer model.Nice sales strategy & pitch. Consumers beware.Do your research before purchasing a brand like DeWalt. You will definitely be a couple thousand rand out of pocket before you know it.Well,it was this type of service from DeWalt that made me rethink my next brand I'm purchasing.(definitely not dewalt)
