Dreadful deposit refund process
I was renting a unit from Dic Homes. I moved out of unit on 30 Nov 2015 and a move inspection was done on the same day. Since the 3rd of Dec until now, 15 Jan it has been an upward battle to finalize the inspection process in order to get my deposit back. Meanwhile Dic Homes continues to earn interest on my money while I am not longer their client. I keep on having to repeat myself or have to resend documents I have already sent. I don't get feedback until I follow up to ask about progress. I am told I am accountable for things that were in the unit when I moved in. I have been disputing and sending proof to no avail. I am told that I am accountable for the repainting of walls that were not painted when I moved in. It has been an absolute nightmare up until now and the least bit of consideration has come my way after having been a client for 3 years.<br> I have requested a meeting with the inspector, a representative from Dic Homes and the owner of the unit as a last resort to resolve this matter because written correspondence is not yielding any results. I have not gotten feedback yet.

Thank you for your report.
According to our records did you sign a document on 28/2/2013 when you took occupation noting that any faults not reported by yourself within 48 hours after said date, would be for your account. Should you have reported the items claimed to be present would it not have been for your account.
You were made aware that the owner had to approve your request to conduct the repairs yourself, as you had already vacated the premises, and you were willing to wait for his approval.
When the owner approved on 6/1/2016 did you advise us that you already conducted the repairs (without permission). You were made aware that a repair inspection was to be conducted to confirm if your repairs were done up to standard. As per the inspector was the repairs not up to standard, as spot painting was done and some items left out completely, and will a contractor have to be appointed to do the repairs.
You are welcome to a meeting with the inspector and Melissa as the owner resides out of town but should note that by requesting to conduct the repairs yourself was that admission in itself.
