A company by the name of SMA International (pty) Ltd. with directors Steven Murray BA.LLB (UCT), https://sma-int.com/ They act on behalf of Dotcom Africa and there are numerous complaints lodges on hello peter and google reviews. https://www.justanswer.com/south-africa-law/o5wia-july-2022-contacted-dotcom-africa.html. Exactly the same happened to us word for word in 2025. In 2025 we were contacted by Dotcom Africa for the medical directory. A member of staff completed the form as they told her it was a free listing directory. we did complete the form but no T&C was sent with this form. and no artwork was approved. We surprisingly got an invoice stating we own them a huge fee. Art work was ever sent to as for approval, they merely took our logo from our website and made their own listing. When we went on to the directory our ad was never live ever. The artwork that was used they got it from our website. We immediately informed them that we will not proceed and all listings should be removed and this huge invoice must be credited and cancelled. The lady who signed the forms did not every have the mandate to enter into formal paid agreements. So back and forth trying to get this solved but nothing. Now again we are handed over for this fee and their lawyers starting harassing us. Their excuse now is that we didn't cancel as per the T&C which we never received in the first place. We started receiving emails and calls from Mandisa Yawu - HOD corporate collections. mandisa.y@sma-int.com. She would phone the reception and harass them by informing them that we are not paying our debt as a company. this puts our reputation with our staff at major jeopardy. This morning she contacted me and I am off sick at home. She **** to me with this call. She told me that she phoned and the office told her I am not available and she should phone me on my cell phone. When I enquired who she spoke to she could not tell me. She gave me two names of people that do not work for me. then she could not give me more info. Surely a legal representative acting is this manner is highly ********* and unprofessional. She keeps harassing me with further final notices and cc summons@sheriffdocs.co.za in to instruct them that if I do not pay the proposed settlement agreement then summons should proceed. Please see last communication: To: The Summons Office Attention: Mrs. Steenhuizen Kindly be advised that the attached debtor has failed to respond to the proposed settlement agreement. As the deadline for payment (30 January 2026) has passed without compliance, the settlement is hereby revoked. It should further be noted that all contact information, including the debtor’s mobile number, appears on the contract she signed. Accordingly, communication via her mobile phone is entirely within our rights and consistent with the contractual terms. On behalf of our client, you are instructed to proceed with the issuance and delivery of summons for the full outstanding amount of R16,011.20, scheduled for delivery between 01 February 2026 and 07 February 2026. In 2024, I signed up for two products after being contacted by David, who introduced himself as my account manager. At the time of taking out the membership, I was assured that he would personally manage my account and ensure I received value from the products purchased. Unfortunately, in December I was informed that David had fallen ill. While this is understandable, there was no contingency plan or handover communicated to me. I proactively followed up in February, at which point Ayanda was assigned to my account. Since then, there has been no meaningful engagement, no service delivery, and absolutely no return on my investment. To date, I have spent close to R12,000, with no measurable value or outcomes delivered. Despite this, I am now being asked to pay a renewal fee for services that were never rendered in the first place. This is unacceptable. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and complete absence of service delivery reflect extremely poor customer service. Apologies are repeatedly offered, but no resolution or rectification follows. I would not recommend this service to any business owner seeking value, professionalism, or return on investment. I am requesting a formal resolution, either through service delivery as originally promised or a refund for services not rendered

I am posting this update to warn other business owners and to keep a public record of my experience. I was signed up for advertising services by Dotcom Africa (Pty) Ltd under representations that the service would generate leads and business exposure. I never received a single client or lead from this advertising. Despite the complete lack of value delivered, I have been harassed for years with payment demands, interest, and threats of legal action. The matter has been escalated to SMA International, who continue issuing intimidating “final demand” letters without addressing the core issue — non-performance and misrepresentation. I have formally disputed this alleged debt in writing and requested proof of services rendered, performance reports, and evidence of value delivered. To date, none has been provided. A quick search on HelloPeter reveals numerous similar complaints, indicating that this is not an isolated incident but a pattern of conduct affecting multiple small businesses. I am now documenting this publicly for transparency and will be escalating the matter to the relevant consumer protection bodies if the harassment continues. I strongly advise business owners to exercise extreme caution before engaging with Dotcom Africa or agreeing to any advertising contracts without verifiable performance guarantees.

I have since contacted the offices, but to this day my account has still not been resolved. I have emailed and called repeatedly, yet I continue to receive no assistance. I am deeply disappointed with the service I’ve received from Medimag Digital Magazine. Despite numerous emails, messages, and calls, I’ve been met with complete silence

I'm writing to express my disappointment with the service I've received from Medimag Digital Magazine. David initially reached out to me and promised verbal assistance once I signed up. Although he supported me briefly after I joined in August, I haven't been able to get in touch with him since. Despite numerous emails, messages, and calls, I've been met with silence. When I contacted the head office, I was informed he was ill and assigned a new representative, but the promised assistance never materialized. To make matters worse, I received an invoice for R5500 in August, and when I tried to cancel my subscription, I was informed that I would have to pay the full amount. I've tried reaching out multiple times, but my messages were responded by insisting i settle this account before I'm able to cancel. Given this experience, I would strongly advise against signing up with Medimag Digital Magazine. Their lack of customer support and uncooperative attitude make it clear that they prioritize profits over customer satisfaction.

Dotcom Africa approached our Small Business promising that they will generate a bunch of leads for our company. One of their consultants at the time, Alex then went on to explain that they have monthly instalment options and that we could start by just paying per month to see if we are happy with their services. After the first month, we realised that nothing was happening and Alex was not sending stats as he promised. We then wrote an email requesting to cancel. It was then brought to our attention that in the fine print of the contract that if you sign, you are liable for the full 12 months!!!! After receiving letters of demands and threats we proceeded to pay the full 12 months so we can get it over with and end the relationship. We sent numerous emails stating that we DO NOT WANT TO RENEW THE CONTRACT. They just ignored all of our emails. After we finished paying the 12 instalments which totaled to R13 700 for basically nothing, we were relieved and moved on with our lives. We did not hear anything from Dotcom Africa. Then a literal 2 years later out of the blue, they sent us an email and are now harassing us and threatening us to pay as they just continued to renew the contract AGAIN!!!!! We started this journey in 2021. Today I get a call stating that the owner of Dotcom Africa wants to take us to court. DO not trust this company. They will ignore all your email requests to cancel, but they are still able to send you monthly statements and threats.
