Horrific and unprofessional consultation
Unprofessional and terrible treatment, both physically and mentally, which concerning for a specialist who deals with sensitive and vulnerable patients. I would highly advise against visiting the practice.

Fabulous gynae who is also a warm & genuine human being
Dr van der Westhuizen is a truly excellent doctor. Not only is he excellent at what he does, but he is a genuine, warm human being. He had to give me a very scary diagnosis, and his compassionate and authentic approach was exactly what I needed. Not the detached "bedside manner" approach some doctors would provide - just his authentic self fully engaged. He assured me that whatever walk we had ahead of us, he would be with me every step of the way. Most importantly though, he demonstrated that by doing something I've never seen a doctor do - he gave me his direct contact number so that I could contact him with any questions or concerns I had in the days leading up to the scheduled surgery (which as it happened was over a weekend). When I did send questions, he responded promptly and reassuringly. And after the surgery, when the tissue results showed that all was well, he rejoiced as much as I did! Also most importantly, my recovery from major surgery has been amazingly fast and very comfortable. So thanks again Dr Andre! I think you Rock! Also my thanks to his assistant, Sam who was accessible, efficient and kind and went to considerable lengths to ease the process for me.

Disrespectful Doctor
What an unpleasant experience with this doctor, unprofessional and disrespectful. My partner and I arrived at 13:20 for our 13:30 appointment, he exited his rooms at 13:35 with another couple, walked past us, didn’t greet nor acknowledge us. This doctor proceeded to leave his office for 40 mins without an explanation. For a R2800 appointment, my partner and I proceeded to leave never to return. I see good reviews from other races clearly it’s a colour thing with this doctor. Utterly disgusted that he is a medical profession who took an oath that he applies discriminately.worst experience.

Disrespectful Doctor

I would never recommend this doctor to anyone
I’ve honestly never had an experience like this with any gynaecologist I’ve consulted with before. This man is disturbingly and disgustingly rude, and his practice is run so unbelievably unprofessionally. I’ve had appointments cancelled or rescheduled by him at the last minute with very little regard or concern. I’ve had lab tests done and no follow up from him or his office regarding the results until today. Even after expressing my dissatisfaction I have still not received my lab results. When I did eventually see him, he rushed through the appointment. My husband and I barely had time to ask questions. The lack of professionalism and compassion was what threw me off about this doctor. And to think that he is dealing with issues as sensitive as pregnancies, I was heartbroken at the complete insensitivity and disregard I experienced to say the least. For your own peace of mind, I would not recommend seeing this doctor. There are many wonderful patient, caring and compassionate gynaecologists you can see and for your own well-being, and getting the quality of service you would like/expect from a private doctor especially if you’re a concerned mom-to-be/trying to conceive and need a kind and caring professional to help you through such an important part of your life, then i would recommend that you please use someone else.

Hysterectomy not so scary after all
Dr Andre van der Westhuizen was extremely professional, took all my family history into consideration and made sure that I got the best medical care in Morningside Hospital. At my first consultation, he could see I was embarrassed and uncomfortable about the hysterectomy. He gave me the facts and information to make a educated decision. I am thankful for his guidance and expertise. I am on my way to a full recovery, feeling so much better.

Best gynecologist in JHB
What a great surprise. I have been needing to find a new gynecologist in Sandton for some time now. I happened to be at Sandton Medi Clinic and asked who reception recommended. They said Dr Van Der Westhuizen was the guy to see. This is never a fun experience but one has to do what one has to do. I booked an appointment and went to see this new Doc last week. At first was not very happy that he was young and good looking. LOL, such an appointment would suit a old half blind Doc better. Would make us girls feel better anyway. This Doctor was Kind, friendly fast and efficient. And what a surprise, I just received an email directly from him letting me know all the results were normal. Girls, I highly recommend this Gynie. It was a good experience all together. His rooms are state of the art and made me feel comfortable. His receptionist is also just the sweetest kindest soul. Good job guys. See you all next year.
