I enrolled my son at Edublox Northcliff after catching their billboard on 14th Avenue - the emphasis is on: "Struggling learners" and that "Edublox clinics specialise in cognitive training that makes learners smarter, and helps them learn and read faster, easier, and better". My son is diagnosed with ADHD and I went to great lengths to explain his learning challenges to Emma who owns the Northcliff franchise. I would ask my son what kind of tuition he was getting and it appeared to be very mainstream type tutoring - I would be paying between 1500 - 3000 p/m for this resource. I even tried to set up sessions with his teachers at school and the Edublox tutors, which was declined as not required. After raising this concern with Emma again, after the end of term 3 and recognising that there was zero improvement, she simply said: we are not the right fit and I think you should take your son elsewhere. I am appalled to say the least because I feel that the entire concept of supporting kids with special needs is used as a hook and that no specialised/remedial expertise resides at Edublox to focus on this kind of need. The maths was somewhat working and when I tried to get the maths tutor's details, who was shaking with fear when I tried to ask him for his number, I was blocked. R17 000 later.
