My boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves for two nights stay at Elandskloof trout farm over February 14th-16th. We weee very excited as from the pictures the place look d amazing ... however the cottage we stayed in ( NO.16) was horrific. We were welcomed at the entrance of the lodge by an area full of dead animal skin drying... YUCK to say the least. The route to our cottage was quite king and the sand road was not in great condition. The view of the place was amazing - th outside setting of the dam was surreal. Inside our cottage - our water was brown and not drinkable ... later we found worms in the water! Disgusted to say the least. The cutlery as well as the crockery was old and not all in working order. The cottage had old looking linen on the bed which prevented us from a good nights sleep. The toilet was leaking and overall the place was dusty! They made an attempt with flowers on our bed and a bottle of JC Le ROux. The fridge made a horrid noise all night also. What a disappointing experience. We left promptly 7.00am on the Thursday morning. Management was not very polite and said they didn’t have worms in the water but rather sinue ... ? Disgusting. Management were also not very professional and only refunded us for one night stay after such a shocking night... I would have expected a full return of all money paid. Will never go back there... we spoke to another elderly couple who were also disappointed - not to say that they in fact do NOt have a restaurant on request , nor a heated pool and the jacuzzi ... well let’s just keep it simple- I would not even think of getting into it. The cottage itself also needs a fresh paint and make over - it looks rather old and badly taken cared of.
