Long story short: my mare was insured for mortality cover through Equipage. They sent me a 10 page “Analysis and Disclosure of Cover Options” document which clearly states in case of death due to African Horse Sickness they will only pay if the owne can produce proof of inoculation - batch number, date etc. It NOWHERE makes reference to AHS I and AHS II. My horse died due to AHS and she was vaccinated with DCA. My claim was rejected due to the small print in a 56 page “policy wording” that CONTRADICTS the schedule. The owner Nicole White ALSO led me to believe that if I could produce a script for the DCA my claim would be honored, it was not. My claim is now being rejected based on a technicality that they themselves have created.
