I have been a loyal patient at Erin's Optometrists in Rosebank since 2023, and every visit has been marked by outstanding professionalism, friendliness, and expertise. My most recent personal appointment in September 2025 for new reading glasses was, as always, seamless and thorough. However, what truly sets this practice apart – and elevates them to a level I have rarely encountered – is the extraordinary kindness and generosity they showed to a 10-year-old child from an underprivileged background. On 15 December 2025, I brought my housekeeper's daughter for an eye test, knowing her eyesight was severely impaired and that glasses were urgently needed but unaffordable for her family. From the moment we arrived, the entire team was unbelievably welcoming, patient, and invested in her well-being. Optometrist Karla stands out as an absolute gem: kind, friendly, caring, patient, courteous, and highly professional. She went far beyond expectations by contacting her colleague Sam (from another practice) who came in specially to perform a cycloplegic refraction in Rosebank – and waived the fee entirely. The generous owner, Chetan, provided an additional pair of glasses completely complimentary, ensuring the child received two high-quality frames with the best lenses, plus two bottles of lens cleaner, a beautiful cloth, and two sturdy cases. Every staff member – without exception – was friendly, accommodating, and genuinely concerned for the child. They invested real time and heart into making her feel special and supported. When she stepped out of the practice into the mall wearing her new glasses on 5 January 2026, her first word was "WOW!" – she was seeing the world clearly, in full colour, for the very first time. This moment was life-changing for her and her family. In a fast-paced city like Johannesburg, where such profound courtesy and compassion toward a child in need is rare, Erin's Optometrists demonstrated the truest expression of Ubuntu I have witnessed in years. It truly takes a village, and this team is building one, one act of kindness at a time. My heart is overflowing with gratitude.
