Etchells & Young Property Brokers's replyOfficial
28 Nov 2025, 11:37And Claudia, if you are going to warn the public (by using the hellopeter platform) of the terrible dangers of doing business with Etchells & Young, why don't you start off by at least being honest and truthful?? When as a professional courtesy, we called you to discuss your grievance and clarify our role, but you would not allow us to speak. You simply overpowered, screaming, shouting and insulting to person who was calmly trying to talk to you. Now, who is unprofessional?
The purpose of hellopeter is to review the service that you have received when dealing with a company, but you have decided to rather use it as a platform to name and shame. Even though you do not seem to understand that an Estate Agent does not own the building and acts upon the instruction of the landlord. In this case the landlord is upgrading and renovating the entire building, including replacing the lifts with brand new lifts. The new lifts are imported (this means that they are manufactured in another country) and even though the landlord has already paid for them a few months back, they take a long time because they are custom-made to specifically fit this building, then shipped over to be assembled and installed in the building. Yet you choose, rather to look forward to what the lovely upgraded and renovated building will be like, rather complain, insult, shout and blame. Nice one Claudia Pretorius!
Please clarify, to the benefit of all the people out there that you are trying to warn - what exactly is false about the advertising that we are doing?? We are obligated via the contract that we have with the owner of the building, to advertise the building and find tenants for the lovely, newly renovated apartments.
Whilst we welcome true and fair reviews about our business, rest assured that if you publish false, libelous or defamatory information about us, we will protect our business and reputation and sue you!
In South African law, defamation is the intentional publication of a statement that is untrue and/or intends to harm another's reputation. To be defamatory, a statement must be published to a third party (like hellopeter), refer to the person or entity, and be capable of damaging their reputation. This is exactly what you are doing!
Best regards,
