The first two words that come to mind, 'con artists'. If you have money to spend then ignore this review. Fangio cheated me by asking an approximately 65% markup on parts for my CHICO Citi Golf!!!. Yes 65%!!. They're a RIPOFF, and we(mostly women I believe) fall for it, because they keep their labour costs reasonable!. To those customers praising Fangio, be very very careful!!. They are super friendly and give their regular updates via WhatsApp, with a friendly smile, and convincingly assuring you your car is in good hands. Also, boasting that their labour is cheap and saying we did this and that for free!?. I have a 2003 Chico Golf, 1.4. I recently took it in because the battery was losing power and the starter motor is cranky. They told me the problem lies with my alternator and that there are two quotes. The first quote is for new parts, nl. * Starter motor - R2636 * Alternator - R4500 * Battery - R1600 * Labour - R1200 All of the above mentioned is excluding VAT. With VAT it amounted to R9936.00. The second quote they let me know I would receive the following day as the auto electrician will try to salvage or recondition the old parts. The following day, early, they let me know that the electrician cannot fix the old alternator as the parts have to come from Johannesburg. I hope this is true, as I was left no option, but to buy all the parts new, which they told me they bought from MIDAS. Needless to say I had to pay this amount as they had already stripped the parts. I was shocked at the final quote as it's a CHICO Golf and not a Mercedes Benz. All throughout the week it bothered me that I paid so much and this afternoon I decided to give Midas Herm**** a call, and pay them a visit in person. I couldn't believe my ears. Here is a breakdown of the costs at Midas.. * Starter motor - R1690 * Alternator - R2739 * Battery - R1315 This repair should have cost me R6944, but instead they marked up the parts to a sum of R3000+. That's daylight *******!! Oh, and Jorge said, we put the battery in for free, really???. ****s!. My advice to clients is, always buy your own parts. They now refuse to refund me for the balance of the cost of the new parts(actual price). The final, arrogant message from Jorge was, as follows... ' the old parts are still here if you want us to put the old parts back and give you a refund. Jorge' My advice to customers is, to always buy your own parts or get a quote from Midas directly, to give you a rough idea of what you should pay. I wasn't so lucky, and they cheated me. In hindsight I now know they are con artists, and I will spread the word!. ******!. PS. I have attached photos to back up my argument.

I would give zero rating if possible. Upon deciding to service one of our vehicles at Fangio Randburg, we regrettably overlooked the numerous negative reviews. I was surprised to see lots of positive feedback here, which I strongly suspect may be from friends or family of the establishment. Unfortunately, our experience confirmed many of the concerns mentioned in the negative reviews. The facility itself was unkempt and exceptionally quiet, raising questions about the overall operation of the business. It appeared that Fangio Randburg is struggling to maintain a professional environment, which is concerning for any customer seeking reliable service. We took our car in for a minor service and then were also quoted on additional repairs, only to receive a quote exceeding R13,000, with over half of that amount attributed to labour. When we inquired about the labour pricing, we were offered a mere R400 discount on labour. During our discussions, we informed the staff that parts for our specific vehicle were challenging to source but mentioned a nearby supplier in Randburg. However, when we asked how Fangio would handle the situation if that supplier could not provide the necessary parts, Chris suggested he contact a supplier located in Kempton Park. My wife followed up and found that parts from this supplier were over R2,000 cheaper. Chris subsequently claimed that the Kempton supplier was "too far out" (yet he had suggested them) for them to collect parts. This is after we had paid an R8,000 deposit to Fangio. It is unreasonable to expect customers to arrange collection for a mistake originating from Fangio's staff. A reputable establishment would have taken responsibility and rectified the situation. In our interactions with Chris, we were quoted for "fan belts," but he exhibited a fundamental misunderstanding of modern automotive terminology, failing to specify whether he was referring to the serpentine belt, V-belt, multigroove belt, or timing belt to the suppliers and continued insisting that the car had "2 fan belts", which needed replacing. Additionally, the lack of professionalism was evident in their phone operations, which were handled by family in the Cape - a family member with a strong accent and the owner's daughter, Gabby creating further communication challenges. We even offered to share the courier costs for delivery of parts from Kempton Park, but it became clear that Fangio was unable financially to facilitate any arrangements beyond their immediate area. Cue Gabby - it is apparent she has an elevated sense of her own importance and authority due to her role in dad's mickey mouse operation. She was extremely aggressive and confrontational. She had the audacity (and was ******** enough) to ask my wife why she felt she needed to save any more money since we were saving R2k on the parts! as if the R2k was being discounted by themselves. Furthermore, our interaction with Gabby highlighted a concerning lack of accountability. Instead of addressing our concerns about the staff's lack of knowledge, she dismissed the issue and questioned why we were concerned about saving money on parts. It was disappointing to see a lack of basic customer service skills and an unwillingness to accept responsibility for their team's missteps. In the end, we were refunded the deposit and feel that we clearly dodged bullet given the staff's lack of knowledge and professionalism. I urge potential customers to heed the negative reviews regarding Fangio Randburg. Our experience suggests that the establishment lacks the knowledge and professionalism necessary to provide reliable automotive service. Dr. Edmunds

Thanks so much for the team at Fangio Auto Service. We were in need of a major repairs for our vehicle (Peugeot 207) that was in excess of R20k. The service and communication from Jorge was always open and we knew exactly what was happening with daily updates. A two-week job was done in three days and our car runs ever so smooth. Very happy customer and will highly recommend their service.

They replaced a clutch but left a leaking gearbox and said nothing. Just don't do it. Washing a vehicle so it looks new = THAT is what they are good it. My car has never been so clean. But unfortunatily they suck at mechanic stuff.

Fangio Auto Service changed the clutch but FORGOT ??? to fix the leaking clutch master cylinder - which was one of the primary reason the car went in, to begin with. Fangio also FORGOT to service the car. - again, something that was agreed with the mechanic. Fangio also FORGOT to change a gearbox output shaft. All were items that the mechanics agreed to fix - when I dropped off the vehicle. That was our deal. But hold on, The reason for ***io FORGETTING EVERYTHING, is because there is a woman, in KZN, who tries to run the company remotely, via Whatsapp messaging. That's right, Fangio is being managed by a woman sitting in KZN, and she attempts to manage a workshop via Whatsapp. She doesn't even make calls or speak to clients. Unbelievably stupid business practice but she will get what she DESERVES. Don't waste your time on Fangio. They WILL force you to get angry and swear at them + go find a vehicle mechanic who DOES NOT waste your time and money.
