Horrific Sale experience from FAW that lasted 24 Months and still haunting us to this day. FAW sold us a wrong VIN Vehicle that caused us Nightmares and took ages to notice nor correct even though we were crying daily at their table. We lost on Service and warranty plans due to time, had major down times and gross logistical losses that amounted to loads of costs. We tried forgiving their poor service...Now they do not want to refund us our R1650 that we helped the situation with, a mess caused by them. We bought 5 Commercial Vehicles from them and never again!!!!

In May 2025 I purchased a 2025 FAW 8,140 FC F/C C/C ROLLBACK truck from FAW NEWCASTLE (STUCKY MOTORS)it's been three full months but they have not delivered the truck ,I paid a deposit of R143 000,my salesman Dean said it will take 6 weeks for the truck to be ready for delivery Fortunately for me the truck is near where I'm residing so I went to check on the progress after 4 week and I got very shocked that nothing was done,Faw,s service provider said he was waiting for Faw to supply him with material that was needed to start working on it,I send the photo to Dean and I told him how disappointed I was because I could see that it was gonna take another week's for it to be done After three weeks I went back again still there was not much progress, I mention that the truck is needed urgently since I have a Towing company and I'm on insurance panels my work is on standstill, Dean seemed to understand, after a week he sent the photos of a truck almost done and he said they are waiting for a person who will be installing the PTO this was towards the end of June When I call again he said they brought the wrong PTO from NEWCASTLE it has to be changed, that when I found his manager and told him that it's been two months since I'm waiting for them but they are not being straight foward with,he promised to speed up things another week went pass,I felt defeated because Mr Rademeyer from (UMKHONDENI FAW BRANCH)promised as well to fast track the matter, three weeks ago he said again the engineer is gonna come and he has decided that they gonna put the electrical wintch which I did not agree with because according to my understanding that was a converted thing that was no more original according to the speculation of the truck I told him that what he is suggesting won't work because that wintch will burn after few loads he seemed to understand, Then he said he has aske the owner of the company that does the fitting of the rollbed to lend me his Rollback truck to use for a week until I get my truck , Three weeks again went pass ,last week Thursday the man Mr Daryn asked me to bring back his truck ,then on Friday last week I asked for a meeting with Mr Rademeyer, Daryn and me , Mr Rademeyer the way he conducted himself I could not believe the way the man was so arrogant he did not take notice of how much I have lost by not being able to work,he went as far as threatening to leave the meeting because he was assuming that I was accusing him of lying when I asked him that what is that is taking FAW months to finish the truck, He couldn't care less that I was a client that they sitting with R143 000 of ,I really don't know what to make out of all this that is happening about the truck I have exhausted my savings account since I have not been working, I sold a truck that was old to buy a new without realising that I'm shooting myself on the foot After the meeting on Friday I noticed that the PTO they said they are putting was not fitted by the gearbox instead it was by the end of the bed and there was a switch that was hanging, when I asked one of the guys there he said it was gonna be for controlling the bed,and where there is suppose to be three gears that you use to operate the functions of the bed there was on two of those small gears,I got confuse because I have never has or seen that ugly work that was being done there, I had an ISUZU and FUSO rollback none of them were fitted the PTO like that, and I can promise you that PTO is not for the ROLLBACK type of truck Again I'm back to square one the man (Daryn took his truck back that he had borrowed me) I have no truck to use now and nobody cares, Mr Rademeyer did not even call yesterday to say he is gonna make a plan, FAW how much must I loose ,I have realised that I made the biggest mistake of my life by choosing FAW What is it that is such a big issue for you to finish truck, because I can see that there is a big problem you are facing that is why you keep on changing stories, I need to work I have a business to run ,I have children to feed,I have a lot to maintain, can you treat me like a client not a bigger. This is the worst company you can ever deal with. The break your truck for you and they replace parts that is not even broken and then your truck is still broken. It is still standing with them still not repaired. Do not buy a FAW.

I bought 2 FAW trucks, the first with a full maintenance agreement and when making the second purchase the same terms was agreed with the salesman. On the purchase of the second OTP I in error wrote same service agreement. Initially FAW did not want to allow the service agreement, but later agreed to the service agreement. The sales manager was rude and asked me to sign the service agreement but refused to discuss the contents of the agreement and asked me to leave his office. Upon inspection the FAW service agreement is wanting to charge me the same amount for a service agreement as what I am already paying for the full maintenace agreement of the other. Neither the Sales Manager, Vernon Rudman want to meet with me, neither the national sales manager, Jaco Pienaar want to talk to me to discuss the matter. FAW refuse to a meeting with me with the salesman. It seems that FAW dismissed the salesman..... BUT FAW does not want to entertain a meeting. FAW is Chinees' owned they refuse to meet neither a phone call. The wore serve ever.

I recently purchased a brand new truck from FAW Newlands. Truck has been driven about 4 times. The second day after driving it from the dealership to Durban truck would not start. I contact roadside assistance that advised their Pinetown commercial department technician will come out. He came out a few hours later and started the vehicle. He advised that he would order parts because there were warning lights that wouldn't go off. I also advised the FAW NEWLANDS DEPARTMENT about these warning lights when the driver left their workshop. Today the truck refused to start in the Phoenix area. The FAW Pinetown technician called my driver and told him that he can't give him an estimated ETA because they only have 2 teams and they are all busy. My driver is stranded in an area that is not fami**** with him. I had to call roadside assistance twice to get an estimated arrival and I still don't have that. Don't be fooled when buying vehicles that offer roadside assistance because dealerships won't assist in attending to this. At least not all dealerships.

Back to my story, they could not find the problem no the aircon, on around 13 months the aircon don't make cold, they look and said the problem is on the inter cooler, it not cover on the warranty. During that period we also discover a leak on top, thy think it is "O-ring", but later see the problem is on the head next to injectors, "sorry it is not cover on the warranty, it is a add-on", I did not add anything on, it is mos part of the engine. FAW expect from met to pay for the aircon over R6,000 & R3,500 on the "add-on"

FAW trucks don't even deserve a 1-star. There should be a negative rating allowed. I’ve had endless problems with the FAW 6.130 Fl F/C C/C truck that was purchased in August 2022 as a new vehicle. Within the first week of taking delivery of the truck, I expressed concern with the sales rep over how difficult it was to get the truck into first gear. He told me it was normal with new vehicles. By 26 October 2022, (2 months old) I reported that the clutch was smelling. The clutch had to be replaced and FAW blamed driver error. If the truck had been set up correctly in the first place, there would not have been a clutch problem. The driver was assessed by FAW’s technical team who reported that the driver was quite competent. The driver had been with me for 3 years with no problems on the previous UD 40 truck that he drove. FAW claimed that the truck was being overloaded. The heaviest the truck had been loaded was 3.04 Tonnes with all other collections that we do being about 2 Tonnes. FAW told me that the truck could carry 3.4 Tonnes when I bought the truck. The workshop employee at FAW that deals with warrantee claims stated to me in a meeting that he believed the clutch was not set up correctly in the first place and that they would refund my payment. That has never happened. The clutch incident cost me just short of R20 000. The driver was then dismissed and I employed a new driver. Within the first week of the new driver starting, he picked up a problem with the tyres and the vehicle “snaking” in the wet weather. We then had an issue with the air pressure in the brakes, raising concerns regarding the safety of the vehicle. As time progressed, additional faults emerged, such as peeling paintwork on the truck, which I promptly brought to the attention of FAW. Although they committed to repainting the truck, the quality of the job performed was subpar, as the paintwork continues to peel. A persistent concern has been the unusual increase in engine oil level every time it is checked by the driver. Despite registering multiple complaints with FAW, they have consistently denied any wrongdoing or faults in this matter. On 5 July this year, the truck went in again with a list of 8 things wrong. FAW disputed our concerns and only replaced the ABS Sensor that was faulty. The full list of concerns was dismissed. To add to the distress, when the vehicle underwent a Certificate of Roadworthiness (COR) assessment to renew the license, it failed due to a broken cross-member bar and the need for replacement of the rear shocks. Such failures are unacceptable for a truck that is merely one year old. In November this year, my driver once again complained that the oil level was rising. I took the truck to a different FAW agent in Roodepoort. After analysis, they claim there is water in the diesel. The truck is only filled up at a Founders Shell garage – highly unlikely to be water in Shell diesel. Founders Shell has produced analysis of their diesel that there is no water in the fuel. The cost of this repair is almost R40 000 that I now need to pay to get my truck back. They know they have me over a barrel and bullying a woman is just too easy. Considering the repeated and persistent faults in the truck, I firmly believe that it is not fit for the intended purpose as promised during the sales process. I am greatly disappointed in the product's quality and overall performance. I have no doubt that I’m not the first person to write a complaint about FAW. Given the numerous documented issues and the lack of resolution provided by FAW, I am confident that the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) is in my favour to pursue this remedy. China should not be allowed to dump their poor quality vehicles in our country with no consequences.
