I bought a 2024 FAW truck at Mbombela in July, the warranty was registered on 27 July 2024. On the 5th of September the battery burst while the truck was in motion. I called FAW Mbombela and they arranged with FAW Tzaneen to attend the truck.
A temporal battery was fitted to the truck around 11pm and taken to the workshop, I was informed that the new battery will be fitted in the morning.
On 6th September when I made a follow up, I was told that they are busy investigating since according to their system the truck was registered in 2022, the dealership at Mbombela provided proof that it was 2024.then they changed the tune by saying the battery's warranty has lapsed. I called the dealership and was told to contact Trudy, after communicating with her she referred me to Michelle who told me that everything will be sorted on the 7th since the truck is still under warranty. On the other hand FAW Tzaneen is also informing me that the battery will be ready on the 12th of September which I found it disturbing since the truck is used for commercial purposes meaning I'll be stuck for the next few days. After making a follow up with Michelle on the 7th, she cited that the battery that was fitted in the truck is a Chinese battery and not covered under warranty.
My question is, did the dealership corn me by selling quantity instead of quality, how is it my fault and why am I expected to pay R6300 for the new battery while the truck is new and under warranty???
I am very disappointed with FAW I fee like they played me and being *****, zero ethics, zero accountability, zero transparency. I have to deal with this kind of service for the whole 5 years.
