The Fellowes Paper Shredder is most likely the best cross-cut shredder for the price. Security is ensured via shredding into 20mmx5mm pieces which renders an A4 sheet into 446 pieces. To look after your machine, the cutter blades need to be maintained meaning:- do NOT feed 7 sheets at a time (I do 1 sheet at a time); remove staples/clips from the paper otherwise the blades will blunt, as well as if staples get jammed in the blade it will be difficult to remove; when the cutting slows down this means the machine is clogging up = time to clean; clean the debris from the blades after first switching it off; oil the blades regularly with a paintbrush (I do this every time I remove the shreds); let the machine cool down every 4 minutes for optimum functionality.
