Beware of these scammers
Unprofessional- worst experience
We took our car to Finn motors in Walmer , Port Elizabeth for some diagnostics. The car was there for several weeks as we wanted it to be checked throughly and have all issues we mentioned sorted out . After much time and many calls to and fro they quoted us on work to be done and we gave the go ahead . We collected the car and drove it after about 5 days only to find the car is making a new rattling sound from the engine which was not there previously . We returned the car and were told this is a new problem that occurred in 5 days and that they would need to quote us again on labour and more parts . They also seems to mention very often that the manager is unavailable and refuse to give out the owners details , this seems to be a money making scam where people are forced to return to them after paying for work supposedly done . They don’t respond to any hello Peter disgruntled clients nor do they call you back or allow you to speak to anyone seniors in management . Please be warned to not use these scammers …

21 Feb 2023, 13:03 We have only received 12 negative reviews on Hello Peter in our 14 years of being in business. We deal with approximately 15 - 20 vehicles a day, so to have 12 bad reviews in that time with that amount of vehicles daily, does not justify your claims of us being scammers.
The vehicle was brought in for “All lights on dashboard”. After diagnosing the vehicle we found that the timing chain was worn out. It was so badly worn that the guides were broken, causing the plastic bits from the guides to go into the sump, indicating that the vehicle was most likely driven for a while with the worn out timing chain to have caused such extensive damage. There was no noise at the time of the vehicle leaving, the chances are that the bearings were worn from the length of time the chain was worn and the guides broken. However, since the big end bearings that are inside the engine, nowhere near the timing chain which we worked on, were not making a noise at the time, it would not justify changing them, if we changed everything that may be effected it would be very expensive and at times unnecessary. There is no way we can do something to someone’s vehicle, so that it can only start making a noise after any period of time, it would be there from the time of fetching the vehicle.
The owners are hands on and discuss the jobs with the team (service advisor and mechanic) that work on the vehicles. You did speak to the mechanic that worked on the vehicle, there is nothing further the owner could have said or done to make the situation any different.
