These guys deserve a rating of zero stars, this workshop is nothing but a ******** operation. On Monday 12 Jan 2026 at 8am I took my car in for repairs of the gearbox - one gear was kicking out while I drive, gear 5. Peter assisted me, said he would take no more than 3 days to fix my car, said he'd have a quote for me by the end of the day. He did no such. On Tuesday no one called me, at 1pm I called them and asked when they were going to quote me - Kim said before the end of the day on Tuesday. Again they failed to give me a quote. On Wed I took public transport to their workshop, a huge inconvenience and left my work to go physically ask them for a quote. I found that they had only stripped my car that day....Peter quickly whipped out an unjustified exorbitant quote of R20K, I told him to reassemble my car and that I don't have that kind of money. Look at their **** quote which I have attached, no proper itemised breakdown of costs of parts. When he heard me reject his quote he begged me to accept a revised quote of R8k....yeah you heard right - the quote suddenly went down by R12k. I should not have accepted even this 2nd quote because Peter did not buy any parts or replace any worn parts of my gearbox. He simply reassembled it without fixing it at all. I picked up my car today (16 Jan 2026), it only drove 50km before the 5th gear reverted to its same problem. I had to drive my car 406km to Gauteng only on 4th gear. The 4th gear now kicks out too. My R8000 has been ****med from me by Peter. Trust Peter at your own own risk, he is a sociopath to have taken my money claiming to have fixed my car when he hasn't and instead put my life at risk. I could have gotten completely stuck on the freeway as a woman driving alone at night. Please do not spend your money at this ******** enterprise, read all the reviews carefully....Peter's Gearmax workshop is a sinking ship. He keeps cars longer than he's supposed to because he has no business, he keeps cars to create a false impression that he's workshop is busy and booked when it isn't. In the 2 days he wasted keeping my car I could have taken my car to a better gearbox specialist workshop in Bloemfontein I chose Gearmax because they promised to look at my car promptly - don't fall for this trick. Don't use car repair places like Gearmax which has a rating of below 4.7 you will regret it.

Sent my car in for some gear repairs and on test driving it, they crash my car. They didn't even organize me a curtesy car for the duration of them fixing it. Customer service is non existent in that business. They've had my car for over a month now.

I took my Fiesta to Gearmax Bloemfontein to change only the selector seal. My gearbos was working 100% with no issues. When I got my car back the car did not want to go into 3rd gear and it kept on jumping out of 1st, 2nd and reverse. I took it back to Gearmax where I was told it is the Links. I said ok and I went and bought new links from Ford and paid Gearmax once again to replace the links. My car still did exactly the same and I took it back 2 times where they said all is fine and they did nothing wrong, but I never had issues with my gearbox until Gearmax worked on it. I am not sure if they damaged the selector shaft, but I am very unhappy about the service as I was told Gearmax is the best, but the service I received was bad and I don't have the funds to take my car to Ford to sort out the problem.

<p>Also had my dealing with Gearmax, just the Cape Town version.<br />Had my diff redone by them. Brought it back home (200Km's) and it was spurting oil from the diff as well as the one side shaft. Had not done that before. I took it in because there was a shudder and Jacques at Gearmax Cape Town assured me it was the back diff. From there the redo.<br />They eventually came out to repair the leaks, after telling me that I am priviledged by them coming out to fix their error.<br />A week later both were leaking oil again.<br />Took it back to their workshop for a day, by appointment and at own cost! They apparently fixed the leaks, but the mud that I had picked up on the farm the morning wat still there after fixing the leak.<br />Needless to say it still leaked.<br />Spoke to their head office many a time. Was assured that it would be fixed and that they are concerned about rendering a good service.<br />It has been 8 months now since they stopped calling me. I had it fixed by Worcester Gearbox centre, who seemed to understand about service and being proud of what you do.<br />Gearmax, at some stage, wanted me to bring it back so they could send the whole diff up to Jhb to be skimmed and then return it. They would do this without supplying me with a vehicle to use, as my vehicle gets used on the farm daily, AND....<br />I will have to pay for them fixing their own bad work.<br />I have heard a lot, but this is like Balloo says in The Jungle Book: "Now I've seen everything in these woods."</p>

Gearmax takes the cake for the poorest most pathetic service I have ever come across in my liftetime!!!! I am highly dissapointed by your standard of service and will tell all my friends to never ever make use of this company. In December of 2015 we took our Mazda Double Cab in for repairing the 5th gear on our 4 x 4 gearbox. They worked on the bakkie for almost a week. Prior to us taking the bakkie in we replaced the clutch and pressure plate as well as the thrust bearing. After getting our bakkie back and almost R9000 later we had to take the bakkie back the very next day as we were batteling to select gear. We were then informed by Willem who appears to be in charge of the Vereeniging office, that the clutch is new and therefore we need to keep driving it until the clutch is used a bit then we will be able to select gears better he adjusted the clutch up to the max! there is nothing else he can do. The bakkie also had a gearbox oil leak the very same day we got it back, which was fixed. we had the bakkie for december and drove from vereeniging to welkom for the holidays. There was a loud noise which sounded like a bearing singing and bakkie kept jumping out of the 5th gear. Othe
