Gringos Waterfront Saloon in Kleinmond

Worst pub experience ever - poor service, burnt pizzas and shocking treatment by manager!

I went to this restaurant/pub, ordered two takeaway pizzas and a beer to enjoy while waiting for the food to be prepared. In spite of the fact that I was the only customer there, I had still not received my beer after waiting 15 minutes. I stood up and asked the barman where my beer was that I ordered. His only reply was “Oh, I forgot”. After waiting a total of one hour I enquired about my pizzas as it surely should not take an hour while I’m the only customer. I eventually received them, paid for the beer and pizzas and went home, which is on the other side of the town. That’s when a further disappointment faced us. The pizzas crusts were burnt and the toppings completely overcooked! The next day I went all the way back to the pub and asked to see the manager to report the incident that happened the previous day. To my total surprise the manager stormed in aggressively and in a raised voice said “What do you want from me?” I told him about the poor bar service and the pizzas and then even showed him the photo I had taken of the overdone pizza as well as pieces of the black burnt edges of the pizzas I took along with me as further proof. He simply shoved it aside and said the photo and burnt pieces mean nothing to him unless I go back and bring him the actual pizzas. My reply was that I only wanted to report the poor quality of service and food for his attention and all I wanted was an apology and a thank you for bringing it to his attention, not his aggressive and threatening manner. At this stage his face and wagging index finger was almost right in my face. I was totally shocked! I told him that he is clearly useless at handling customers or complaints and that I will never set foot in his place again, or any of my guests, friends or family. His reply was “Well good luck to you and yes, don’t send them here!” You heard the man – don’t go there!
