I bought a Groupon whale watching voucher for R400 just before Groupon closed down in South Africa at the end of 2016. The Groupon dissappeared off their site after the announcement and I was never able to redeem it.
Their policy clearly stated the following "if you have a bought a Groupon, all current vouchers bought will remain valid until the date stated on the voucher. The terms and conditions on the voucher remain the same. For any customers who are uncomfortable with using their voucher, we are offering a cash refund option if they contact us before 30 November 2016. Goods purchased up to 4 November will be fulfilled. Should you need to return a Goods item you purchased, please do so before 30 November 2016."
I tried to get my money back twice after they closed by using their online process for this (one of the ticket numbers Ticket # ********** 0) , and did this well before the 30th of November but they just sent me this:
"...While we usually aim to respond to emails within 24 hours, we're currently experiencing an unusually high volume of mail, so we hope you'll bear with us if we end up taking longer than normal to answer your query..."
...and never responded or returned my money.
Terrible service and just took my money.
