H A D plastics (part of HAD Group) professional con artist and scammers

I would like to bring to the attention of any interested parties to please be very aware and vigilant of a company called H A D Plastics, under the HAD group.

On Monday 15th November 2021, we arranged with the technician of the HAD group, Deon Gounden (Dees) to come have a look at our machinery and provide a quotation for services to be carried out. Unfortunately, we ignored the first sign of a fly-by-night company- they charged us a substantial amount of money to do only a quotation. It costed us R750 for Deon Gounden to come to our premises only to give a quotation.

Our factory is en route to where he was headed so he claimed if our factory was in a different area, there would be an additional charge. He stopped here on the 17th Of November 2021, gave a very general non-specific breakdown of the works to be done, promising a quotation on the same afternoon, the 17th of November 2021. From Wednesday 17th November 2021 until Friday 19th November 2021, Deon didn’t take my calls on both his cellphone numbers and didn’t reply to my calls. Here is where it becomes apparent that this company is in business to make a quick buck. Friday 19th November 2021, I manage to get hold of the office, spoke to the office lady, Arthi Singh. Arthi claims that because of loadshedding and their busy schedule, they weren’t able to prepare a quotation. It was rather unprofessional for somebody to make excuses for not providing a quotation (that was paid for).

I received a one-line quotation on Whatsapp saying that the costs of works will be R95 000. This again was substantially overpriced to try to get me away from them (We received a quotation from a company that flew their technicians from JHB for just over a quarter of that and they didn’t even charge us for a quotation keeping in mind they travelled all the way from JHB to Durban to quote).

I then requested Arthi Singh and Deon (Dees) Gounden to provide a detailed quotation on email with each item listed separately. Arthi Singh sent me the same single line quotation (no breakdown of works) on their company letterhead and forwarded it to me. I then again requested a detailed quotation from Arthi Singh which she promised.

Monday 22nd November 2021, I get a call from Arthi Singh saying that they are not going ahead with the works using a very shabby excuse. One of my employees, who called himself my business partner had an argument on our property so Deon Gounden (Dees) decided not to go ahead with the work. Keep in mind Deon Gounden (Dees) is a grown man, probably middle aged suddenly finds a childish excuse to not provide my quotation. The argument was based on my employee asking Deon Gounden (Dees), a grown man, what was the need to charge for a quotation.

I then inform them that what happened between himself and my employee is a personal matter between them and they were responsible for providing a quotation that was paid for. Rightfully if services were not provided the money should be returned.

So to summarise: HAD Plastics (also go as HAD group, HAD steel and pipe worx, and HAD Air) will charge you a very large sum of money to provide a quotation only. Remember if a company charge for a quotation or material upfront, run away, most probably scammers (Like in this case).

HAD plastics will spend 10 minutes assessing your machines (cost R750) will refuse to answer to calls and messages and make you run around like a crazy fool. If you persist on calling them, they give you a very high figure, four times the cost of the works, without telling you what the work entails, thinking that you will run away after seeing such a high price. If you further persist, they will make a lame excuse for them not being able to do the work, meanwhile, they have already stolen your R750 and run away.

I urge all of you in the plastic manufacturing, steel works and industrial to please be cautious of this company.
