USE ANOTHER BOOKING PLATFORM. I booked, I paid, I arrived at 61 on Wale and was told to cancel my booking as they had no place for me. The whole set up is a con. It is very difficult to get hold of Hostelworld to cancel. This gives tourism industry a bad name.

Hi there i made a booking and paid and when i received my booking it was something totally different, it was for BACKPACKERS CAPE TOWN....i was suppose to pay a deposit of R 408.00 and a total of R 1999.00 was taken off my bank account and they have not even came back to me with my money, telling me i am going to lose my deposit, the booking was changed from a stupid double bed for two people to a 3 sleeper with bathroom...i have never requested this, all i want is my money, i strongley suggest that people dont do bookings with this company, it is run by some brittish or american group of companies and all they do is steel our money.....i just want my money back.... they give you 24hours to cancel it has not even been 36 hours since the booking was made and i can not cancel it any longer on line......steeling money from people = theft

On the 18th November, we booked three nights at the Elandsbay Beach Cottage in Cape Town through [URL Removed] at an agree price and paid a $20 deposit. We were given a remainder price to pay on arrival. Earlier this week, we received an email from Stefan of Elandsbay Beach Cottage, stating that we needed to pay all of our monies immediately and not on the agreed arrival date. The price of the cottage had also increased by almost R500. Stefan said this was because it was a busy time of year, there had been other enquiries to the room and there had been a mistake with the original costings.

We tried to query this with [URL Removed] sending numerous emails over the last two days - they have not responded. Finally we contacted Stefan via email registering our concern, and he cancelled our booking. We contacted Stefan via phone and were informed 'we either do it his way, or not at all'. The agent, [URL Removed] are still unavailable for comment, and we have no means of claiming back our deposit. This is disgusting ethics and sounds to me like Elandsbay have had other enquiries and are taking advantage of visitors to Cape Town. [URL Removed] have been useless in assisting us
