On 30 April 2018, my brother bought a car, Toyota Corolla 2006 model from IBUY Motors a Registered Dealership in Bloemfontein at R 95000,00 cash. I personally took delivery of the vehicle. On 02 May I drove the car from Bloemfontein to Whittlesea which is my hometown. The estimated distance to trave was about 450 kilometers. When I was approaching Penhoek Pass which is about 70 kilometres to Queenstown the car just lost power and cut the engine. I immediately phoned or contracted the dealership for advice, they did not give me any assistance until I contacted a tow truck to Tow me up to Queenstown. I continued communicating with the Manager at IBUY Motors who kept on telling me she couldn't make any commitment not take any decision as the Garage Owner was in America. She asked me to call the next day, I already asked her what should I do, she said I should take the car back to Bloemfontein so they can make a determination, I also asked if we could take the car to any RMI Registered Workshop to make a determination, she said she can't take that decision as only the Boss who was in America could make that call. I contacted him on Whattsapp whilst in America if he was indexed there. The guy was so disrespectful of me as a client, told me straight he can't help if the car is in Queenstown and that he can't pay for any work done outside his workshop all in a don't care manner or attitude. We decided to take the car to Peter Motors, an RMI Approved Workshop who checked the car for us at R1800,00. He discovered that silicon like substance bloked the sump which led to the engine ceasing. He then quoted us about R47800,00 to get a new engine and put it in the car as fixing that one was allegedly to cost almost the same price. We went up to that far with absolutely no assistance from IBUY Motors, a car dealer in Bloemfontein. It is very disappointing that a Dealer of that stature and calibre would treat customers the way IBUY Motors have done to me and my big brother. We would love for people especially those from outside Bloemfontein to think twice before making any commitment with their investments or hard earned money they saved to buy cars to investigate as much as possible before committing.
