contract renewal without consent

in 2015 I took out a 1 year contract with this company which I paid for in full now they were renewing it without my consent and next thing I receive a letter of summons to court on Friday this is absolutely ridiculous as to my understanding from the company the vault was like a prepaid meaning you pay first to renew contract and I chose not to renew as I moved to a different city same year and came back 2 years later now they say I owe them of which you cannot use vault without payment their contract says its upfront payment before use they are taking chances to rob consumers and they do not explain anything
