This past weekend we finally got to enjoy a fully deboned smoked paprika chicken from Impala Butchery that I had purchased a few months ago and kept frozen. Not only did it freeze beautifully, but it was fantastic on the braai – juicy, flavourful, and absolutely delicious. We even had leftovers which we turned into chicken mayo sandwiches the next day, and they were just as good reheated. My father and sister are regulars at Impala Butchery every Sunday, and we’re never left disappointed with the quality of products. Their honey bacon biltong has become a staple shopping snack for us, highly addictive and always fresh. While some products are slightly higher in price, the quality and taste make it well worth it. I would highly recommend popping into Impala Butchery for anyone looking for top-notch meats and biltong.

STAY AWAY, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Just came from Impala Butchery. I buy biltong there every week and on Tuesday (the 25th of March), bought a pack of Ostrich biltong that was moldy. I checked the date and it was packed on 7 March 2025, so had been on the shelf there for a long time. I ate one piece of this moldy biltong before noticing it. I took it back there today, and the manager actually accused me of leaving the biltong in the packet for too long, from two days ago. He offered me a free pack for R130 odd, when this packet cost R236, but its the accusation that gets me. He weighed it and said I had eaten some of it, so can't get a full refund. WHAT!! I should be suing them. I spend close to R4000 a month there, buying biltong weekly. That's the last time they will see me. I have learnt the hard way, don't buy from them.

First I would like to say I liked Impala butchery Beyers Naude. The service is nice and the meat is good when it is not off. Unfortunately this is the 3rd time that I bought meat which is off after 2 days in the fridge (twice with beef burgers and once with the pork sausage). Unfortunately...

The IMPALA butchery is a more recent addition to the Impala fruit and flower market in Northcliff, Johannesburg on Beyers Naude Drive. If you are one of those people who prefer, like me, to buy your meat from a quality butchery rather than a supermarket, give them a try. One of my favourites is the handmade Beef and B.acon burgers. Think Friday night relaxed supper with a hot bowl of soup followed by a cheesy-sink-your-teeth-into yummy hamburger in front of the TV.
