A Creative and Delicious Escape at Joon's

I visited Joon's on a Sunday morning for a quick coffee and ended up staying for breakfast because the menu looked so tempting. I had the vegan bagel and my partner ordered the chicken schnitzel bagel, both were absolutely outstanding. The bagels were soft, fresh, and perfectly balanced, with the fried chicken being a true standout. I also tried the peanut butter iced coffee, which was smooth and refreshing without being overly sweet. What makes Joon's even more special is the atmosphere. The artwork on display is incredible, and you can even paint during your visit if you’re feeling creative. This was my second time at their new location, the first being their Valentine’s Day “Sip and Paint” event, which was such a memorable experience, a lovely dinner paired with painting alongside my partner. Whether for coffee, a meal, or a creative outing, Joon's is a gem in Linden that I would highly recommend.

Charming Spot for a Relaxing Lunch

Today I visited Goddess Café as part of a work lunch, and tried their pistachio cappuccino along with the butternut and feta pancake. The cappuccino wasn’t anything particularly special and not something I’d order again, but the butternut and feta pancake was absolutely delicious, definitely a dish I’d recommend. The pancake itself was pink, which not only tasted great but also tied in perfectly with the café’s playful, pink-themed aesthetic. The food did take a little while to come out, but the atmosphere made up for it. Goddess Café is a lovely spot to enjoy a slow, relaxing lunch, and the bonus is that it’s dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friends along too.

Quality Meats Worth Every Cent at Impala Butchery

This past weekend we finally got to enjoy a fully deboned smoked paprika chicken from Impala Butchery that I had purchased a few months ago and kept frozen. Not only did it freeze beautifully, but it was fantastic on the braai – juicy, flavourful, and absolutely delicious. We even had leftovers which we turned into chicken mayo sandwiches the next day, and they were just as good reheated. My father and sister are regulars at Impala Butchery every Sunday, and we’re never left disappointed with the quality of products. Their honey bacon biltong has become a staple shopping snack for us, highly addictive and always fresh. While some products are slightly higher in price, the quality and taste make it well worth it. I would highly recommend popping into Impala Butchery for anyone looking for top-notch meats and biltong.

Ferndale on Republic - The Daily Coffee Cafe

I recently started working around the corner from Ferndale on Republic, and my absolute favorite spot for lunch has quickly become The Daily Café. The staff are always friendly and attentive, and the food and coffee are truly amazing. I went there on Tuesday for a friend’s birthday lunch. I had the avocado on a bagel, and she ordered the southern fried chicken bagel (or something close to it). Both meals were absolutely delicious! I’d highly recommend The Daily Café for a relaxed lunch or even just a great cup of coffee.

My Go-To Lunch Spot on Republic

I recently started working around the corner from Ferndale on Republic, and my absolute favorite spot for lunch has quickly become The Daily Coffee Café. Terrible Customer Service Overshadows Product

I do not recommend this company. I ordered a bed base on May 1st and visited their showroom in person, a difficult experience in itself, as it was hard to locate, appeared closed, and required multiple calls to their Cape Town branch to get someone at the Midrand branch to open for us. After paying in full, including delivery, the company essentially ghosted me. For the first two months, I called regularly for updates, but most calls didn’t go through, and when they did, no one could provide clear information. The factory phone was either not working or they claimed the system hadn’t updated. Excuses were constant. In the third month, once I became more assertive, I finally started receiving updates, but they were inconsistent and often conflicted with what previous representatives had told me. As the delivery window approached, I grew anxious due to a lack of reliable communication. I was promised callbacks multiple times a day, but only once was I actually called to be told my delivery would happen “the following week”, a promise that turned out to be false. It took persistent pressure from my boyfriend before the manager contacted me, claiming they would resolve the issue and compensate me for the stress caused. The next day, I was called to confirm my address and availability, and the delivery arrived after 5 PM, without any time window. I had someone waiting all day to receive a product that finally arrived well after I got home from work. After delivery, the manager disappeared. No follow-up, no compensation, nothing. I’m extremely disappointed and concerned about this company, as my experience matches several recent negative reviews that have appeared over the past three months. The product itself is fine, but any positive impression is completely overshadowed by the appalling after-purchase service. If you value your sanity, avoid this company.
