First time my son came for his eye op when admitted we were told to just bring essentials only to discover that the ward B2east doesn't provide beds for mothers you get 1 blanket and sleep on the floor. The food for mothers was another issue, mothers who were told to bring nothing would only be getting food once the kids are fed. There was a drunk sister at work who was reported yet when I came back the about a month later that sister was on duty. There were 2 of us mothers who spoke out but because the other mother had a husband who came to see her and was wearing a suit she seemingly took priority and my concerns completely neglected as she had a 1 on 1 with the matron and shared her concerns and I was completely ignored. Both times when I came to peads clinic I was informed that the kids age will be considered as liquids are cut off. @6am but a 5 yr old was the first to go when there are 8 month Olds nd 1 yr Olds. When you ask the staff u r told that no kid had died from hunger. It's really frustrating as this is considered to be one of the best hospitals in KZN however B2east will give such a bad reflection of the hospital.
