Here's a copy of my review I posted to Booking.com for SPECIFICALLY the apartments section, specifically apartments run by a man named Bash from Crystal Towers up the road:
Without a doubt, the worst accommodation experience of my life. Arrived, told to get key at another hotel, key doesn't open door, deal with rude security, eventually get to room. The description was incorrect (I required 2 queen beds and was told both rooms have a queen on the booking), the linens still weren't changed nearly 2 hours after check-in time, and the entire apartment reeked of urine. Called the numbers on Booking.com and Google. The former blocked me as it was for a previous manager. The latter was for the hotel only, so they couldn't help. After help from a resident, I found out that the room is one of several managed by another hotel (Marriot Crystal Towers) where I collected the keys. It was managed in particular by a man named Bash. With no one to contact, I went back to Crystal Towers to find assistance. Of all people to arrive at reception, it happened to be bash. I politely told him that A) the apartment did not have 2 queen beds, 1 was two singles, obviously suggesting I got the wrong room B) the apartment still didnt have linens changed and C) it stunk of urine. Bash, the manager, pedantically asked me "didnt they already tell you that the linens weren't changed?". Why would telling me improve the situation. He then challenged me on the beds. I showed him the booking and explained it was incorrect, and this man smirked and said, "we dont even have queen sized. All our rooms have king beds. So what is the problem? Is the bed too big?". I would assume a man who made it into adulthood would have sense enough to clearly understand that's not what I was saying. He was still avoiding the questions of why the linens were now well over 2 hours late and why the room stunk like an airport urinal. I challenged him on his sarcasm, and he repeatedly interrupted me, telling me he wasn't when he obviously was. Only when I said I wanted to talk to his superiors did he leave to actually try and address my problems. He returned later and took us to see a new room. At a glance, it was fine, so we accepted. Now for this "superior" room that he was so proud of;
The bathtub was dirty, the giant, unguarded window by the front door is busted (struggles to lock), one of our lamps was a 2point plug where the wall had a 3 point outlet and no adapter (had to find one on the fan in the closet) while the other lamp outright didnt work at all. The pipe cover on the sink was laying against the wall next to the sink, the shower had two bottles of shower gel and no shampoo, the dstv remote has the batteries taped and when you actually push the batteries in the entire face of the remote pops out. The sofa in the lounge was heavily stained, one of the lounge chairs had a super short leg leaving it wobbly, and the other chair cracked every time you dared sit on it and wobbled, too.
There is blatantly ZERO care given to these apartments, throwaways for a quick buck by Crystal Towers who get away with it because the hotel department of Island Club has good reviews; despite apparently having nothing to do with the apartments section yet the booking.com name lists it as 1 entity. The security was rude and dismissive, and Bash, the maestro of this expensive, rotten, and ******* experience, thought it appropriate to be rude and sarcastic and even laughed at me as he walked away. Objectively the worst travel experience of my life, and I implore anybody reading this to stay FAR far away from the apartments at Island Club.
I know this isn't an outlier situation either, as the resident I mentioned earlier mentioned that we are not the first people to have had poor experiences at the apartments. All this difficulty, nearly 3 hours of paid accommodation time lost, the trauma of being demeaned and my consolation was another ****py apartment and NOTHING else. My entire trip was ruined, a trip that my wife's best friend flew from Canada for. I'd be ashamed to call that place mine.
