Miscommunication when requesting for arrangements of payment hence on outstanding 1 month rent. Yet we have never missed a payment. Being told we're being locked out, no eviction notice nothing! Wifi, biometric access long gone deactivated and now we're being locked out without proper legal procedure and they don't want to accept us paying end of the month which is ending in just 13 days.

On 12 January my Residents App assisted access was restricted and electricity was disconnected on account of arrear rentals for which I was in contact with them to settle and was never reconnected. On 11 March 2026 I found my lock changed without any further communication from where we left off.

Trying to shake me down for money I don’t owe them, they are retaliating by listing my name on the credit bureaus because I refused to stay with them any longer. Ithemba has no Morals and I will be dealing with You legally. Sies

Absolutely poor customer service, the management team has no regard whatsoever for tenants. The on premises office closes at 5 but their staff leaves at 16:00. They block your Wi-Fi without any notice of late payment, whereas my account was up to date but I had mistakenly put my name and surname as reference instead of my reference number. When you go to the office no one can help you because people leave whenever they feel like leaving. The management has weaponised Wi-Fi, electricity and hot water to punish tenants for being 1,2 days late on paying rent. Worst management and systems ever I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay at the iThemba Properties especially The Atlas. They just don’t care about tenants!

I've been trying to call Ithemba all morning with absolutely no joy. I get transferred to an unattended mailbox or the call gets dropped. The agents need training, I've had the phone dropped on me 5 times with an agent named Ntokozo telling me to calm down. Absolutely no soft skills training whatsoever. Dealing with Ithemba has been a nightmare. They added a credit bureau listing for early termination with absolutely no warning. We had to find out via the bureau of the arrears. They have been paid and simple confirmation that payment was received that listing will be cleared is not forthcoming. The Pop was sent to their hello email. I do not reccomend that anyone move to their properties, the after service is shocking.

This building has a deeply troubling pattern of billing manipulation and extremely poor customer care. Ithemba periodically cooks up unreasonable water billing amounts, and tenants are then forced to pay, because their so-called “investigations” always conclude that there are no leaks or faults which is simply not true. There is no transparency, no proper evidence, and no fair dispute resolution process. You are made liable by default, regardless of logic or facts. At the Jewel City customer care office, you literally have to beg for assistance. There is no urgency, no accountability, and no genuine care for tenants. Those agents are simply display ornaments. It is very clear that tenant well-being only matters when it benefits their pockets. Due to a false and inflated water bill, I was locked out of my apartment, forcing me to pay half the amount under pressure, just to regain access. Even after making payment in good faith, my WiFi was not restored for almost two weeks, despite three follow-ups and I am still waiting to this day. This experience has been stressful, unfair, and exhausting. Poor service, dishonest billing practices, and shocking customer care make this one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had. I strongly advise potential tenants to think very carefully before moving into this building.

This shady company is now threatening to ruin my credit record over money that I don’t owe them. Please note you are not getting a cent from me. I will be taking this issue to the rental housing tribunal, Ithemba needs to stop their shady dealings.
