I requested Jason Hollingdrake, owner of Homeowner Project, telephone numbers ********** / ********** , address unknown, to supply and fit a new kitchen, 2 new vanities, new bedroom cupboard and new doors and facings on all other cupboard, Order No. L1023 (See Attachment 1).

I placed the order on the 23rd November 2015, and paid a deposit of R25 000.00 on the 24th November 2015 via EFT (See Attachment 2). As per our agreement, he committed to deliver and install the order in 3 weeks. He committed to the 15th December 2016.

Below is a breakdown of the work to me done:

- Remove old kitchen and supply new white kitchen with granite tops, sink, cupboard handles, light shields, under counter lighting, light in the display cupboard and installation of Hob, oven and extractor fan

- Install two new vanities in white with granite tops, install basins, connect taps and plumbing

- 1 New Bedroom Cupboard

- Replace fillers and doors on existing cupboards (5 unit, 2 doors per unit)

- I had requested a classic white wrap door. Mr. Hollingdrake told me he did not sell wrap doors as they did not last, but sold a door that was of a higher standard and a better quality. I was never shown a sample and nit being in the industry did not know what and impact door was.

When meeting with Mr. Hollingdrake to discuss my originals requirements he assured me that everything will be installed by the 16th December 2015 and the quality of the product he supplies is the best there is.

After numerous phone calls, emails, threats and abuse, I was assured that everything would be delivered and installed on the 22nd December 2015 but I had to pay an amount of R13 500 (See Attachment 2). Due to the time constraints I was then informed that only the vanities and the basins would be installed on the 22nd December 2015.

On the 22nd December 2015, only the doors, facing and vanities were delivered. The cupboard in the bedroom was installed and so were the vanities but the basins taps and plumbing was not installed and connected as per Mr. Hollingdrake’s commitment to me.

The following are a list of issues that I gave to Mr. Hollingdrake with regards to the delivery and installations that took place on the 22nd December 2015:

- The doors that were delivered were not white but a grey white color

- Most of the doors that were delivered were badly mad and had chips in them (See Attchment 3)

- The bedroom cupboard that was installed was badly installed, the side panel damaged, the one door was white and the other 2 grey white and the doors had chips in them (See Attachment 4)

- The vanities were the wrong size. They should have been 750mm(w) x 750mm(h) x 520mm(d), they are 750mm(w) x 855mm(h) x 600(d). The doors have no edging, the granite has chips and has not been cut straight. The basins were never installed and the taps and plumbing connected as promised.

I requested a meeting on the 23rd December 2015 to discuss the quality of the product delivered and the installation that was so badly done. I also told Mr. Hollingdrake that no further installation will take place until such times as we had met at my place to discuss the issues. Mr. Hollingdrake refused to attend a meeting on the 23rd December 2015 as requested. With regards to the installing of the basin and taps that were to have been done on the 22nd December 2015 I was told by Mr. Hollingdrake that if I wanted them connected best I get them connected myself, I had this done at a cost of R950 on the 24th December 2015.

On the 4th January 2016 I requested a meeting with Mr. Hollingdrake again and again I told him that no further installation would not take place until such as we had met and had sorted out the issues with the badly made doors and installation.

On the 5th January 2016, the fitter came and confirmed that vanities were the incorrect size, the cupboard badly installed, the vanities were the wrong size, the doors were badly made and not the correct size and that the granite was badly chipped and cut.

I was also told that Mr. Hollingdrake would not be dealing with me and that I had to do everything through the fitter. The fitter said he would report back to Mr. Hollingdrake and they would remedy the situation.

I insisted that the kitchen carcasses be delivered as they were lying at the supplier. They were delivered on the 21st January 2016.

I emailed, phoned and sent messages daily from the 5th January to the 21st January 2016. But I was told that Mr. Hollingdrake was waiting for quotes to replace the badly made doors etc.

I sent 2 lawyers letters. He replied to the first and ignored the second. Sadly I could not afford anymore lawyer’s fees .

On the 7th April 2016, I requested Mr. Hollingdrake to refund me for the following:

- Removal and installation of new kitchen

- Installation of new cupboards doors and facings

- Sink

- 5.5 meters of granite for the kitchen

- Light shields and light in display cupboard

- Handles for all the doors in the kitchen and the new doors in the bedrooms

- Under counter lighting and light in display cupboard

- Fixing of incorrect sized and badly installed Vanities as per his fitters commitment

- Replacing of all cupbaord doors that are chipped, badly made and not white in color

- Damaged side panel for new cupboard in bedroom

- Electrical costs for installation of oven, hob, extractor fans, light in display unit and under counter lights.

- Plumbing costs for installation of sink, tap at sink, 2 basin and 2 basin taps.

From the 23rd December 2015 when Mr. Hollingdrake knew there was an issue he made no effort to remedy the situation. He refused to deal with me and was in breach of contract when he failed to deliver as promised on the 15th December 2015 as promised.

Based on the above I requested that Mr. Hollingdrake refund me for the items that have not been delivered and for the work that has not been. He refuses to do so and from the 7th April 2016, I have not heard from him.

It has been an extremely long wait (over 3 months since they started), but Jason has assured me he will finish my installation this next week. He has finally sorted out all his business issues with his installation manager and the granite supplier and has a new installer so I am hopeful. At least his new installer came out last week and installed some draws and took notes of all outstanding work.

Jason promised me that he would be able to totally gut and refit my kitchen last year (2015). It was close to the December Holidays and unfortunately it did not work out. This was the least of my worries and understandable as things do go wrong in the rush to finish jobs before the end of the year. I was ensured that everything would be completed in the first working week of January. It is now mid-Feb and my kitchen is still not completed, the carcasses are in but there is still a lot of work to be done. I am missing shelves draws, doors etc so still can't pack my kitchen. The worst thing is that I have already paid 90% of the money. Furthermore I am being harassed by his subcontractors who have not been paid and they have even threatened to remove the granite that was installed and the cupboard installer phoned me incessantly demanding payment. I have heard an excuse almost every day, he promises to still honour our agreement, however today is yet another day I was told an installer would be onsite to fix my issues and I am still waiting.
