Company: Premium Movers (Pty) Ltd t/a Just Trucking Owner: “Mike” Service: Household relocation from Gauteng to Eastern Cape Date of Move: 3 February 2026
I am writing this complaint not only as a consumer, but as a mother who went through one of the most traumatic experiences of my life during a relocation that should have been simple and safe. Instead, Just Trucking — owned and operated by “Mike” — turned it into a nightmare filled with verbal abuse, ************, financial loss, and heartbreaking damage to my belongings.
Background: • A deposit was paid after initial positive interactions with Mike, who appeared professional, responsive, and knowledgeable. • A video recording and voice note via WhatsApp of the household contents was provided to the company (Mike) for accurate truck size assessment. • Mike advised that an 8 ton truck would be sufficient, later agreeing after I voiced my concerns that I do not feel comfortable with an 8-ton truck alone, an additional trailer would be required. • I specifically requested a closed truck and trailer to ensure my belongings remained dry and clean and that the clearly labeled boxes could be stacked in order against the sides as there are quite a few vintage and sentimental items. • The move was originally requested for Friday, 29th (date confusion acknowledged), but the company’s response to the date adjustment became hostile and abusive. • Deposit was paid to secure booking. • Balance due before truck was loaded.
1. Emotional Trauma & Abusive Behavior From the moment I tried to correct the move date, Mike became hostile, aggressive, and verbally abusive. He accused me of being “high,” shouted at me, and used ************ tactics that left me in tears more than once. Threatened me with penalty fees. My sister had to intervene because I was so distressed.
No consumer should ever be spoken to like this. No woman travelling alone with her child should be threatened or pressured the way I was. This behavior is not only unprofessional — it is emotionally damaging and ******** under the Consumer Protection Act.
2. Delays, Understaffing & Immediate Red Flags The truck arrived three hours late, and only four movers arrived instead of the five Mike confirmed would be assisting with my move. One was the driver, who was exhausted and barely responsive. From the start, I felt unsafe, unsupported, and misled.
3. Negligent Packing & Heartbreaking Damage I had spent weeks carefully labelling, color‑coding, and protecting my belongings — many of which are sentimental, vintage, or irreplaceable. I provided the packers with a full large role of bubble wrap and flattened boxes, I provided them with cushions to use between furniture and carefully explained the labeling of the boxes and how they should be loaded and packed.
Despite this:
Boxes were crushed, stacked upside down, and climbed on furniture packed on top of them and no structure or care for my belongings. Furniture was loaded without blankets or protection. Clearly labeled Fragile boxes were ignored. Items marked “Do Not Store” were thrown into storage these I had asked to be packed in the truck last as they were to be offloaded at the house and the rest of my belongings into temporary storage.
A broken tumble dryer I left for an NPO in Gauteng was taken without my permission and hidden at the back of the truck and only visible once the unpacking was completed.
When they opened the truck in Port Alfred, I wanted to burst into tears. Seeing my beautiful double door fridge scratched across the front because a metal chair had been pushed against it with no protection, my furniture damaged, and my boxes crushed, the visible damage was devastating. These were not just “things” — they were pieces of our life that we entrusted to this company.
4. Forced Additional Costs Due to Their Negligence and lack of effective packing At 16:00 on the 3rrd, I was told that one‑third of my belongings would not fit into the truck and trailer. I was therefore forced to pay for an additional 8‑ton truck, costing R30,000 extra — money I did not budget for as a single Mother - and of which I was very clear from the start with Mike.
A mover from the second truck later confirmed when they were unpacking my belongings into storage, that everything would have fit in the 1st truck and trailer if the first team had packed properly!
5. Dangerous, Irresponsible Demands Mike insisted that I:
Drive through the night alone with my teenage son and pets to meet the 1st truck in the Eastern Cape at 8am the next morning (a 14 hour drive after the 1st truck left at 6pm on the 3rd). When I pleaded with Mike to be reasonable he stated: “get rid of” the belongings that didn’t fit in the truck. He also stated that the 1st truck had to get back to Gauteng after offloading my belongings and there could be no delay so I must make "a plan". I had to ask my already distraught elderly mother to be at the house in Gauteng the next morning to meet the 2nd truck which would then load the rest of my belongings - even after this had been arranged the 2nd truck's packers were so careless that they left quite a few items behind, forcing me to drive to Gauteng again this weekend with my son to collect these items.
The forced drive through the night was reckless, unsafe, and deeply frightening. I was already exhausted, emotionally drained, and trying to protect my child and animals.
Ironically, their "1st truck and trailer" was delayed by 25 hours due to a tyre blowout — and they had no tools to fix it. No compensation and no apology offered. The 1st truck was supposed to be at my house in Port Alfred at 6:30am the morning of the 5th but only arrived at 9:30am, I was due to be in Port Elizabeth for an interview at 12 noon. The 2nd truck arrived at 10am. I notified Mike that this was their own inadequacy and that the trucks had to wait for a few hours for me to return. The packers and driver were still in the same clothing they were in on the 3rd, they asked me to get them food and something to drink as they stated they had been living on bread they shared and water for 2 days (the last meal they had was the one I gave them on the 3rd for lunch!)
6. Labour Concerns That Shocked Me The movers told me:
They had no food They were living on bread They had no tools They were exhausted and untrained
I ended up buying them food and drinks out of compassion. No worker should be treated like this.
7. Refusal to Provide Proper Invoice or Business Details Despite repeated requests, I only received a basic Excel spreadsheet with no tax number, no terms and conditions, and no proper documentation — and only after I warned that I would go public. Mike then deemed it necessary to threaten me with legal action if I do report him and Just Trucking showing further attempts to intimidate me. I wish this kind of service and treatment on nobody.
What I Am Seeking (Recourse Requested) I am requesting:
1. Compensation for all damages to my belongings Including furniture, appliances, and fragile items that were mishandled.
2. Refund of the unnecessary additional truck costs The second truck was only required because of their negligent packing. All my belongings were packed almost as badly as the trucks, but I was there to try to instill some order and guidance as to how to pack, although once I turned my back the haphazard packing continued) fitted into 2 standard storage units, not packed to the roof (two single garages) and one single garage with plenty of room to spare - how could this not fit, if packed properly into one 8 ton truck and a trailer with the same volume?
3. A proper, tax‑compliant invoice and full business documentation As required by the Consumer Protection Act.
4. Accountability for the abusive behavior and ************ No consumer should ever be treated the way I was.
5. Guidance on further recourse I am pursuing complaints with:
The National Consumer Commission (report with photos sent to them on the 13th Feb)
The Consumer Goods & Services Ombud
Legal avenues for damages
Possible charges for ************ and harassment
