I moved my daughter from a traditional private school to Koa in term 4 of Grade 8 last year, and she has continued there this year.
I was a little skeptical at first, it almost sounded too good to be true, but it really has been great. The teachers are involved and accessible, the learners have been unproblematic, and the quality of education has been on par with her previous school.
There is a short adjustment period while learners figure out how and where to do everything, but it’s quick, and the teachers are very supportive throughout.
I was initially concerned about whether my daughter would have the discipline for homeschooling, but the way the programme is structured has really supported her growth. She has taken ownership of her work, asks questions confidently, and often strives to work ahead of schedule. She enjoys the flexibility of being able to work ahead and manage her time in a way that suits her.
As with most homeschooling or online models, very social children may still need additional outlets for social interaction. That said, Koa has a unique approach and makes a genuine effort to build community, and my daughter has made friends with her classmates.
Honestly, this is the only route I would recommend for supported homeschooling.
The overall culture is not about churning kids out or cashing in, but about genuinely caring for learners and their overall wellbeing.
