Today marks day 145 since I complained about rain water pooling in front of our house in Paradise Beach. (Official ticket no 18912 at the DA run Kouga Municipality) I've sent multiple emails to the Municipality and even WhatsApp messages with pictures to the mayor, on his request, and up and until today, nothing was done. The pictures shown are from today and I have taken many more over since 27 May, when I reported this problem. We are sitting with rising damp and damage to our house, as a direct result of the DA run Municipality's incompetence. I was watching a clip on FB earlier where the mayor was bragging about his Municipality heavily investing in road infrastructure and customer services. We have seen nothing of those sevices as yet. Soon the DA will beg for our votes again, in the coming elections and make promises that they can't keep. They sure as hell won't get ours.

Today marks 90 days, since I registered a complaint about water pooling up in front of our house, as a result of poor drainage on the road. There is an existing gutter running underneath the road and I can fix the problem myself, but it will be *******, as the road belongs to the municipality. (Governed by the DA) After I registered said complaint, I received ticket no 18912 and was informed that the problem would receive the necessary attention. On 24 July, I contacted our mayor, Mr Hattingh Bornman via WhatsApp and informed him about our problem and sent pictures of said problem. He responded and asked me to send him an email in this regard and said that he would look into it. Up until today, nothing has been done and I haven't even seen a municipal vehicle, where we live, I'm Paradise Beach. Our problem got worse, as we are now sitting with rising damp in our home and paint is starting to blister as a result. I've sent the Municipality and Mr Bornman another email, with pictures of damage attached. Never received an answer from our "honourable" mayor. As a ratepayer, surely I deserve service from our Municipality. It's always before local elections that they make promises about service delivery and a better life for all, but as soon as they get elected, the voters mean nothing. They will never get my vote again and it looks like the only option left is to get legal support in order to make them accountable?

I tried to speak to any one at the municipality office for the last 3 DAYS , just to change my e-mail address for my monthly bill. The 042 200 2200 number is working perfectly, but after you spoke to the opperater, SAY GOOD BUY and phone again x 10

I have been trying to query my electricity bill with the KLM for almost a month, and they state that I am in arrears, but all my invoices have been paid in full. I phoned, almost every day, but there was no answer at the offices. The line is always busy, and only one lady in the call centre has been accommodating, but I think she might have reached the end of her rope as well.

Unfortunately no half stars available to select. This is one of the worst municipalities in the banana republic run by baffoons. The staff in this municipality must have been trained by the Mafia.

Extremely poor service delivery and they refuse to pay interest on money you have paid in advance into your rates account. KLM do not even respond to your emails. Nowhere else does an organisation have your money without paying interest. They are *****ing money from pensioners by not paying interest. Worst municipality in South Africa, they make promises which they do not keep, the roads in Jeffreys Bay are in a shocking condition, full of pot holes.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCER: THE MUNICIPAL MANAGER KOUGA MUNICIPALITY ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT JEFFREY’S BAY Dear Mr du Plessis FORMAL COMPLAINT MUNICIPAL CABLE THEFT AND DAMAGE TO TRANFORMER On the 30th of March 2023, we reported in writing electrical cable theft and damage to a municipal transformer. We also reported this serious crime to the SAPD in Humansdorp on the same day. On the same day we received an email from the electricity department’s head, stating that they take notice and that it will be investigated. The head of finance was also informed by the head of electricity. On the 15th of May 2023, another email with a photo attachment of the damaged transformer was directed to your electricity department and other email addresses at Kouga Municipality, including sdaniesl@kouga.gov.za On the 17th of May 2023 we received an email from the head of the electricity department, to which our email dated 30th March 2023 was directed, and who rep**** that the matter will be investigated, now categorically stated that, that was the first time that he was informed about the incident and that it will have to be investigated further. This was now six weeks after the incident was reported and on the same day, 17th May 2023, we sent another email to the head of the electricity department and included various other email addresses as well as your email address at cduplessis@kouga.gov.za as well as sdaniels@kouga.gov.za On the 18th of May 2023, a Mr. Mangembe and another employee inspected the area and agreed with us that somebody was either killed or seriously injured on the scene. I requested an explanation from Mr Mangembe in writing as to the reason why this incident was only inspected six weeks after it was reported in writing. He assured me that he will provide us with such a letter, but to date, we haven’t heard anything from either Mr. Mangembe or any other department and or management from Kouga Municipality. Nine weeks after the incident occurred ,where cable theft, a serious crime, has been committed and a transformer was damaged beyond repair and a death or serious injury might have been the result of this incident, we are still being billed for the basic electricity charge at this point, however no electricity could have been supp**** during this period. It boggles the mind that management and personnel of Kouga Municipality treats a client and a taxpayer in this manner. Be that as it may, the SAPD has only this week provided us with a case number for this serious crime, but has not investigated or visited the scene at all. It is therefor obvious that our municipality and our law enforcement in the Kouga municipal area are not only dysfunctional, but seriously ***********. We are used to the fact that management of this municipality regard them as superior to the ordinary taxpayer and as in the past, we are confident that we will receive no response from management at all. As far as SAPs is concerned, it is a disgrace that serious crimes are handled in this haphazard manner. Trust, you have a nice day. Yours faithfully Rob Malan

My electrity went off on Christmas day and I phoned the municipality and they told me they would be there in 40 minutes. I didn't expect that to happen but they were there within 30 minutes and replaced my circuit breaker on the spot. What amazing service- coming out so quickly on Christmas day was so unexpected. Thank you to Kouga municipality
