Checked into Lower Sabie Camp this week for a stay in a bungalow. First attempt found the bungalow with a most offensive smell & no key as door had been vandalised. On returning to Reception the Receptionist was quick to admit that Lower Sabie has a bat problem as bats have invaded the roofs of many of the units. Hence the offensive smell. We were given key to No. 80 & on alighting from our car found the offensive smell even stronger. On closer inspection we saw 2 contractors s****ing down the walls of the adjacent unit to rid them of bat excrement. Then plugging the holes in thatch with builders foam or polyfiller. . Both poor products for this kind of problem. However, over 3 days we watched as they toiled only to see them leave, without sanitizing the bungalow or walls, or even painting. The evidence of the samle teatment was visible in Unit 80, which was only useable if you kept doior & windows closed. Zt night, bats wete flying out from many bungzlows around us, which probably requires shutting down theCamp, section by section & uograding all units with a roofing product that is bat proof. Evidence of poor maintenance was apparent everywhere in this camp. Have been visiting for 40 years & can't believe the deterioration.. Can't recommend you stay there!
