Trying to make a booking using the KZN Wildlife booking web site is very trying as payment for the booking does not seem possible. Whichever platform (laptop or mobile, chrome or firefox) is used, one just gets the error: "Please ensure that you enter your email address or mobile number and password correctly. Mobile number should be in the format: 27830000000". Seeing as OTPs are reaching me via email and mobile, it would seem the error is nonsense.

I was double charged at one of your facilities - monks ***l - I made a payment in one of your offices on 30 Nov at the Drakensberg mountain and I was double charged R560, because the person processing the payment said it was declined. I've since checked with my back and it has confirmed that the payment went through twice and none was declined and have gone back to them with zero assistance! Is this how you rob your local tourist?? Please can I have the amount paid/reversed into my account as this is definitely daylight ******* which is quite disappointing!

UMLALAZI Cabins - very poor condition We stayed in the cabins this December, 2025. The cabins (especially numbers 11, 12 and 13) are badly dilapidated and in poor condition. The building is unkept and the wood is rotten in places posing a risk (like stairs, railings, floor boards on the deck). The roof is full of plants and debris in the gutters. It was in a condition that surprised me that they can actually rent it out! Will not book the cabins again unless restored. It was a huge disaapointed, as we used to go there and love the reserve. The reserve itself is fine and actually lovely, the mangroves boardwalk is amazing and worth the visit, and was well kept and in really good condition, and the walk has been extended which is good to see the investment made - as day visitor this is worth the visit. I cannot comment on the condition of the camping grounds, we did not have a look at that.

I tried calling Central reservations in Pmb. Got hold of them after 2 x days. The lady asked me to send copies of the IDs for pensioners discount. I've emailed twice no reply. I called and rhe lady who answered said she would pass on our message. I would get an email with a new invoice. We'll our due date for payment has passed and still no updated invoice. Im not sure if they want business. 🤔

The access road to the Royal Natal National Park is already not great but we expected the road to get better once we were in the park. No map or layout was given when we got to the gate but we received verbal instructions how to get to the Thendele Chalets. The tar road began to deteriorate more and more with huge chunks of tar missing and large potholes. It is clear no road maintenance has been done there for years. On one section the tar had sunk away and we could not navigate around it as there was a steep incline. We were afraid to damage our car and turned back before we managed to get to Thendele where we had booked for 3 nights. We were on our last leg of our journey through South-Africa and this was a huge disappointment. We had to make last minute alternate reservations at another reserve at great cost. The response from Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has been disappointing.

Hi, I went on Google yesterday and I was provided with incorrect information about the use of my Rhinocard @ Cape Vidal and Sodwana Bay. The only reason I purchased it was to gain entry and discounts at these areas. This is absolutely misleading. I sent messages soon after purchase yesterday asking if It can be reversed. No reply was received. Please assist. I need to reverse this credit card transaction. I even attached that of the website. Very very disappointed. Anitha Durgapershad

Absolutely appalling customer service. I was overcharged by R 1800 between an online booking (they overcharge) and an email booking, and for three weeks, I've been completely ignored. My emails and calls to the bookings, refund, and customer service departments have gone unanswered. They clearly dont value its customers or honor its pricing. The blatant way of being ignored by 3 departments is a slap in the face - besides being out of pocket."

I would like to bring to your attention an incident that happened over this long weekend 20-23 March 2025. The Mahai Campsite was full of families wanting to enjoy nature. We had come to the Royal Natal national park for its beauty and tranquility where peace and quiet is guaranteed as it is a world heritage site. There are signs posted everywhere that no loud noise or music is to be played in the camp sites. Unfortunately this was not honoured as a group of people around 40 + were not abiding by the rules. They were playing music from their car stereo with subwoofers and partying from 16:00h late into the night past 24:00h from Thursday night all the way to Sunday, drunk and smoking cannabis right next to our tents. All campers & their children got little sleep which was ruined by the tour group's total disrespect for the entire community. We laid various complaints with night security and the honorable ranger on duty. Many attempts were made to confront the group, they refused to switch off the music and kept partying. They even threatened to physically harm the night security officer. Many other campers including us contacted the emergency numbers of the conservation manager 082 718 0055 & Mahai duty number 064 761 5516. There was absolutely no attempt from any of the officers to ask the group to vacate the campsite for disobeying the rules, unfortunately the rest of the law abiding campers had to suffer because of the absent leadership of the KZN wildlife staff. We spent literally tens of thousands of rands on rentals, camping equipment, fuel, food, with some of us coming as far as Cape town to get to Mahai camp which has been on our bucket list for many years. We are highly upset over this and need solid answers as to how and why this was allowed to continue over the weekend despite numerous complaints. It is truly disturbing that our and many other families' safety was totally disregarded by the staff at Mahai.
