Either this restaurant was hard hit by Covid and has not recovered, or it is simply way beyond its sell- by date. It looks unkempt and neglected and its food was abysmal. I suspect it trades on its good location and the fact that one can sit outdoors. We made the mistake of booking a special birthday here. The day was totally spoilt. We asked for a table under the trees. We were placed furthest from the trees under hot umbrellas next to a smelly green pool surrounded by aging garden accessories. Our food order took so long to arrive that the birthday girl didn't even have time to cut and enjoy the cake, this after we advised them repeatedly that we needed to be somewhere at a specific time. The excuse was that a new menu had come out. Well then, tell me before I book so that I do not have to have our special day spoilt being your guinea ***s. The salmon that we ordered was completely unpalatable. It was still icy in the centre and the rice was hard and crunchy. We would have been sick had we eaten it. The pasta was chewy and the food was generally bland and boring. The worst was the owner. She said she would take my comments "into consideration" and had no clue how to handle how irate the whole experience had made us. We weren't charged for the salmon (I should hope not as we sent it back untouched and I didn't land up eating anything!!) but she clearly could not give a toss that we left there hungry and angry and charged us for everything else! Not even an apology. Her head manager did come to apologise to me afterwards, for which I was grateful. Wish I had booked somewhere else because this really spoilt a very special birthday.
