My wife took out a bridge loan in 2006 for R2,700, which is sitting at R19,000 after all the legal fees and interest. They have since placed a garnishee order on her pay for R754.21 and she has brought the loan down to +/- R9,000.
I requested advice from them and they said I must contact the NCR (National Credit Regulator). I did this and sent all the info only to be told by the NCR that they have no jurisdiction over this due to the date and act at that time, they told me to approach the Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman said they don't deal with bridge loans and I must go to the NCR.
I explained all this to Legal X and they said I must fill in a claim form. After sending this to them they responded with a letter to say they can't help me as it was before I started the Policy with them and they have this clause in their policy.
My problem is why make me go around in this big circle only to reject my claim, they knew when I joined and the date of the loan taken.
I tried with a few more problems and they all got treated the same way and the advice was as good as sucking it out of my thumb. All I got was robbed of another R90 a month.
