In 2018 we had a group booking for August, taking the entire hotel, cancelled by the owner a month before our booked date. She cited contractual guests who had decided to take our weekend and they had priority. Fast forward 2023, we booked again for mid August, with assurances that the previous situation could not happen again as she hadn't renewed that contract. Deposits were paid in June. Well, it DID happen again, but 3 DAYS before our arrival. This time she cited a bad road, bemoaning the damage done by the roadworks to her 4x4, and the fact that the establishment had been 'taken over' by another group, including her own house. On investigation it appears Loxley is closed for 3 months from 1 August. She even had the audacity to ask us to give her another date, which is obviously not going to be taken up. If I could give zero stars I could.
