Mafadi Property Management Unfair Withholding of flat deposit after malicious damage of my car in their property

I was a loyal tenant at Trafalgar Property promised us security, controlled access and safety environment in their advert and they were treating tenants with care since 2016 until Mafadi Property took over in 2025 towards the end of the year in a flat unit known as Theo’s Court in Roodepoort. Since 2025 I have had several malicious damages of my government subsidized vehicle and have case numbers from the Roodepoort Police station where I have been reporting these crime incidents. This year in 2026 end of February I left due to another malicious damage of my government subsidized car by unknown person because there’s no proper security in their property. Rental Housing Act stipulates that landlords must maintain security they promised and liable to any damage as there was negligence in some days. My car was damaged in a designated common area/parking several times and I feel they are liable to all these damages because there’s several days where the property gate was not working. There were days when you will find the gate not wide open and not locked intentionally left for those who don’t have gate remotes and sometimes because gate motor broke and the gate will be left wide open putting vehicles at risk during the day and at night. Mafadi Property’s management refused to give me my deposit back. Their argument was “the lease agreement still stands.” I found it very insensitive of them since I have been paying the rent together with parking fee and on top of that I have been fixing all the damages on my car on my own. They are just ****** who are unsympathetic to loyal tenants. The question is, Was I supposed to continue and allow them perpetrator to continue to damage my car while I am still waiting for the notice? I noticed the management and vacated due to safety concerns that I reported several times without them taking an action to help me but still expect me to serve a one-month notice while my car is continuously damaged, yet I was paying for them monthly parking fee. I tried to communicate with Lauren Woodford the Mafadi Portfolio Manager, pressing reasons why I left within a short notice, but her response was that Mafadi owner was not prepared to give me my deposit back and I must leave them a review on Hello Peter. I left their flat premises without my deposit, and they see nothing wrong in treating loyal tenant like that who has resided in their property for ten years. They are so insensitive, and adamant not to give half of my deposit back and expect not to take legal action against them. That’s how Mafadi Property is treating tenants when they left, using whatever tricks against the tenant to forfeit the deposit. They are interested in benefiting and gaining from what is not even due to them. Mafadi Property Management are unsympathetic croocks!
