My friends and I suffered from food poisoning after eating at Marble restaurant. I was hospitalized for 5 days, and the establishment only said we had a popular meal and that we were the only ones who complained. I don't know what that implies. What saddens me is that I am a returning customer, and seeing how the establishment handled this matter shocked me. I honestly rated them high. So go there at your own risk.

The food was very delicious with generous portions however the service left a lot to be desired. Waited for over half an hour for my food and paid an extravagant amount. I'd advise you to check out other restaurants but the food was great.

I was bitterly disappointed and extremely dissatisfied with the experience at the Marble Restaurant when I decided to dine there yesterday, 26/03/2024. I chose the fine establishment to celebrate my sons 21st, and after carefully considering options such as Saints and Signature both of which I’ve visited and frequented before, I settled on marble as the choice as we’ve always wanted to dine there, and thought this would be the opportune time to do so. Little did I realise that the experience, especially on such a special occasion would turn out to be so bad. I literally spent 1 hour from arrival to exit at the restaurant. My reservation was made for 3pm, and I thought that we would spend a lovely afternoon/evening at the establishment, yet that was not to be. The waiter who served us had no sense of customer centricity, he was brash, rude and abrupt, no sense of welcoming guests to the establishment. We literally took our seats and before we could even settle in, he started to rush us to make decision on placing an order. When we asked for a few minutes to settle in, look through the menu and drinks, he appeared annoyed and irritated. The mistake I made was to throw away my receipt and not take his name down, however, he is an extension of the brand marble, and should always aim to provide an exceptional customer experience, this was not achieved. We eventually, due to his persistent pressure, ordered mediocre drinks in the form of cold drinks and juice and 2 bottles of water. We were then pressured to order meals as the kitchen was closing at 15:45, so again we had to order in a hurry. The orders were placed, all except my wife’s and she was still deciding on her choice of cuisine, she asked the waiter to please return to take her order in 2 minutes, he never returned until our meals were delivered, so my wife never ended up ordering her meal. Let me add, all of the meals presented, were of the highest quality from appearance to taste, I cannot complain about that, the chefs did an amazing job and the food was divine. Whilst we were still dining, we could see the other waiters starting sweep in front of us, certainly not what’s expected from a fine dining and classy restaurant such as this. I understand that preparation needs to be done for dinner, but surely this isn’t the type of experience you wish to present your customers with. We rushed our meals, didn’t order desert as I was already frustrated and exceptionally irritated and annoyed by this time with the waiter and the entire experience. It was not how I planned on celebrating my sons milestone birthday. Furthermore, I informed the restaurant of the special event when I made the reservation, I also saw it noted on the manifest when the guest relations officer welcome us in, however there was no notice taken of this at the table by the waiter or anyone for that matter. I decided to settle the bill and left highly disappointed. Definitely not on my list to celebrate another special occasion if this is the experience that the marble is vying for. Not impressed at all. Enver Reddy

The restaurant is really beautiful and one certainly cannot fault the way it is decorated, the view, etc. There are a few things they can improve on though (1) Marble does not cater to vegans. They have two vegetarian dishes on the menu - one cauliflower based and the other broccoli based - and they veganised the broccoli dish for me, but I can’t say I was blown away. For dessert, I asked about the pannacotta as this looked to be vegan, but they came back and told me they did not have this in stock - again, not what one would expect from a 5-star restaurant. (2) We booked a table for 7.30pm but when we arrived on time, we were informed that we had to wait until a table was available for us. We were eventually seated at 8.00pm when a table became available and our drinks arrived at 8.30pm. This is the first time I’ve ever gone to a restaurant where a confirmed booking entailed one having to wait so long for one’s table. (3) The acoustics are terrible and the music so loud that we had to shout across the table to hear each other. So all in all, it was a different experience but I’ve had much better experiences at other restaurants that have fewer or no stars.

Our visit to Marble restaurant in Rosebank was such a disappointment. After hearing about this great restaurant, my husband wanted to treat me for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We called and made reservations, they asked the occasion and when we said it’s our anniversary they asked if they could treat us with complimentary bubbles upon arrival. We accepted and felt very special even before arriving. The restaurant is stunning, welcoming you at the door and immediately taking you to your table. Our server introduced himself and the evening started off great. We ordered starters which were amazing. I had the prawn and my husband had the duck. For mains I had the Risotto, and again it was great. Whereas my husband ordered the 1kg Tomahawk steak, medium rare, but was very disappointed. The steak arrived cut into strips and the bone was used as a decoration, the meat was medium and lacked seasoning. The steak also had a lot of sinue running through the meat, and even though the meat was super soft he struggled to chew with all of the sineu. And with the meat arriving already cut, there is no way that the chef did not see this. So how he could send it out I don’t understand. My husband didn’t want to send it back as our child was at home with the babysitter so we didn’t have time to waste on this. We wanted to have a good anniversary meal and get home to our child. We then proceeded to order desert, the cheesecake was really good I really enjoyed it. However the stroop wafel mascarpone ice cream sandwich was a big disappointment. The waffle was soft and tasted stale. It’s clear that this dessert is frozen and not freshly prepared as one would expect. It has definitely been prepared a few days prior to us ordering it. We then proceeded to ask for the bill and that took such a long time. And again waiting unnecessarily for the bill while our child is at home was so frustrating. At last the bill arrived and our ‘complimentary’ anniversary bubbles were added onto our bill for another R225. It even said Anniversary Bubbles on the bill. Just such a lousy end to our evening. My husband asked the server about this and he went to ask the Manager. Needless to say we ended up waiting some more, in the end we didn’t have to pay for the complimentary bubbles. What a relief. After all of the hype about Marble restaurant we definitely expected a lot more. The food did not deliver as expected, especially with the huge price tags. Spending R2000 on this meal is a big regret, we could have done a lot better for a quarter of the price. (we only ordered a R90 bottle of water, if we had drinks we would have easily spend R500+ more) We will definitely not be going back there again.

What a wonderful experience, especially this time around as we chose the chef's table....the food was delicious...I enjoy their menu but going forward will definitely want to be surprised and delighted by the chef.

Last night, we went to Marble in Rosebank to dine for my Sister’s birthday and engagement party. We were in the private dining room with a lady, Naledi, serving us as our main server for the evening. We were VERY unhappy with the waitress that was serving us. Most of us shared the same sentiments that she was very unpleasant and did not seem willing or even happy to serve us. When we’d asked for anything it would be accompanied by an irritated look and she’d reluctantly do it. This was a very special occasion so it was very upsetting to have this kind of attitude and service given to us. With Marble’s esteemed reputation, that was not at all what we expected especially for such a pivotal event!
