Stay Away! Mistakes, unwarranted delays and high bills

Martin Vermaak Attorneys caused my uncontested divorce to be significantly delayed with a massive bill. They filed the divorce papers 5 weeks after the settlement agreement was signed (it should have been done immediately). They made me pay for delivery of the summons, even though the summons was never served on my husband. After 5 weeks of waiting, my husband just went to the sheriff office and collected it himself. Then, my attorney stopped responding to me and after numerous phone calls and emails I managed to find out she was not at the firm anymore. Nobody thought to inform me about this. So now I have to pay the same rate to a much less experienced lawyer who apparently took over my case. They delayed another 2 weeks waiting for the return of service before setting up a court date which is apparently not required. While all this was going on, my bills are just stacking up one after the other.

I am still not divorced.
