On the 13th of November 2021 I organized for my NA Mazda Miata to come in to have its clutch looked at as it was very soft and was not holding pressure and due to this not allowing the gears to be changed. On the following Monday the 15th I got send a quote of R18 378.60 and this was for the replacement of the clutch resealing the diffs and skim fly wheel, as requested I paid my deposit and waited. At this point the ETA on spares was between 4 to 8 weeks from Japan.
On the 30th on November I was asked if the quote could be changed as there was no correct tool for resealing the diffs adding an additional R8 646.07. I was asked to consent to the change and the repair went ahead.
Around the 3rd of December I requested to have the car do a road worthy test by Mazda East Rand.
On the 6th of December I was sent the amended quote of R23 548.98 as well as being informed that my car will be done by the end of the week. However the car ended up failing road worthy three times as well as coming into more clutch and parts issues.
Until the 24th of December were I came to collect the car at 7am sharp and was even welcomed to a change of quote R20 991,40 we patiently waited for the car to just get a final check to be on our way until it came to 10am where the offer was made that I can drive my car but non of the lights will be functional, please note this is just after the car passed its road worthy inspection. Being eager to finally get my car and making an arrangement to drop off the car, when Mazda East Rand re-opens in January, I decided to try take it home however before even exiting the gate of the offices the car got stuck in first gear then stuck in reverse and only by rev matching I could take it back to the service department. Thankfully I was given a loan car and was able to at least drive to work without having to make transport changes unlike November or December.
January came and went with little work done and I was again informed about new parts that were needed and them deciding to order from Mazda Japan and not local OEM’s, at this point I was asked to wait till the 21st of February for and update then the 28th then the 3rd of March then the 11th of March all this time I was the one who was calling and if I missed one call I wouldn’t receive a follow up.
Finally the part arrived and on the 26th of March I went to collect my car 5 months after sending it in and the second I climbed out of the door at home I realised the mishandling done to my car, here is a list of some of the issues I found: Right door had two scratches, indoor right had scratches and front windscreen cracked, left of back window scratched, ***** marks as well as noises coming from the gear box, a rougher cold start than it had and issues with rattles and power loss as the car now feels clunky and stiff to drive.
On Sunday the 27th of March I wanted to give the car another try hoping it was just a “new gear” feeling but after just driving it up and down the street I found it to be extremely pungent with a petrol smell as well as having a louder rattle and click sound coming from the gear box.
Now it is the 7th of June 2022 and I have taken my car back due to a fault in the electrical caused by negligent work done on the car, only to be given a new quote stating I need to pay for the electrical problem that wasn’t fixed.
