We purchased a demo vehicle from McCarthy Bidvest less than a month ago, expecting it to meet the standards and checks one would reasonably expect from a reputable dealership.
Shortly after taking delivery, we identified an electrical fault relating to the hooter. The vehicle was immediately booked in as advised, but it has now been standing at the dealership for over 11 days with no clear diagnosis, no resolution, and no confirmed timeline for repair.
What has been most disappointing is the dealership’s refusal to take accountability. Despite the vehicle being sold as a demo unit and allegedly having undergone the necessary inspections prior to sale, responsibility for the fault has been shifted to the customer, without any objective or conclusive proof being provided.
We have repeatedly requested clarity, documentation, and a reasonable solution, but to date there has been no satisfactory recourse. As a customer, it is extremely frustrating to be left without a vehicle while liability is disputed instead of proactively resolved. Based on our experience, the after-sales service and accountability have fallen well short of expectations. We would not expect to be dealing with unresolved electrical issues and prolonged delays so soon after purchasing a vehicle, particularly one sold as a demo.
