Based on recent customer reviews, McCarthy faces significant criticism across its dealership network. Customers consistently report poor after-sales service, including unresolved refunds, prolonged vehicle repair delays, and lack of communication. Multiple reviewers describe being left without vehicles for weeks with no updates or courtesy cars provided. Billing issues after membership cancellations, inconsistent transport policies during servicing, and concerns about spare parts delivery timelines further erode trust. Several reviews also highlight a perceived lack of accountability when mechanical faults arise shortly after purchase.

Based on recent customer reviews, this business delivers a consistently strong customer experience anchored by outstanding agent quality and rapid communication. Customers frequently name individual consultants and praise their friendliness, patience, and professionalism. Recurring praise is given to claims and roadside assistance, though a vocal minority report frustrating delays, rejected claims, and poor transparency around premium increases.

We purchased a demo vehicle from McCarthy Bidvest less than a month ago, expecting it to meet the standards and checks one would reasonably expect from a reputable dealership. Shortly after taking delivery, we identified an electrical fault relating to the hooter. The vehicle was immediately booked in as advised, but it has now been standing at the dealership for over 11 days with no clear diagnosis, no resolution, and no confirmed timeline for repair. What has been most disappointing is the dealership’s refusal to take accountability. Despite the vehicle being sold as a demo unit and allegedly having undergone the necessary inspections prior to sale, responsibility for the fault has been shifted to the customer, without any objective or conclusive proof being provided. We have repeatedly requested clarity, documentation, and a reasonable solution, but to date there has been no satisfactory recourse. As a customer, it is extremely frustrating to be left without a vehicle while liability is disputed instead of proactively resolved. Based on our experience, the after-sales service and accountability have fallen well short of expectations. We would not expect to be dealing with unresolved electrical issues and prolonged delays so soon after purchasing a vehicle, particularly one sold as a demo.

I'm very disappointed with the treatment I'm getting from VW. My vehicle was still under warranty when I had a breakdown on the 6th of December 2025. On the 9th of December I towed the vehicle to VW Groblersdal. Ever since then I have never gotten any update with regards to the vehicle. Every time I call for update am being promised that they will call me back... On the 16th of January I went to VW Groblersdal personally to check on the progress of the car, i found out that nothing was done on the vehicle since it's arrival. They refused to offer me a courtesy vehicle till to date!! I went on to call the sales person who assisted me during the purchase of the vehicle, He tried his level best to get hold of Groblersdal, they promised him that the will commnunicate with me but nothing! I went on to write a complain to support@vwconnect.co.za still no response!!

I called to cancel a policy I opened sometime ago. During the conversation I could hear the lady getting annoyed. I was surprised why because I was never rude or anything like that to her, I don’t even know why she would be annoyed, there was no reason to be. So I said to her please don’t be annoyed, and her response was I heard you raise your voice. How, when when she’s the one who sounds sleepy. I had no reason to raise my voice so this took me by surprise. Londie please answer the phone better next time and assist your clients better. The whole time you sounded so annoyed 😏 and then accuse me of raising my voice. Worst phone call I’ve ever made 🚮

Club McCarthy says that I must pay for the second tow of my car today when it is just the continuation of the same incident. The car broke down yesterday evening and could not be take the garage because it was after hours. So instead of going to a storage place, the car was stored in the property where I leave, 500 meters away from where it broke down. So the car did not cost McCarthy anything for overnight storage. The least they should do is to provide the two to the garage today. They also ignored my specific instruction not to send a flat bed truck because the car was in the parking area of a shopping centre and sent the flat bed. The driver of the flat bed had to call for assistance of another recovery vehicle - for which I now have to pay. So I am paying twice for one incident because McCarthy ignored that a small two truck was needed and because they claim that there cannot be two free tows for the same incident. The operator that took my call today understood the situation, but her escalation to management failed . This after years of being a member! So, if your car breaks down after working hours, you are not covered!!!! Is this what insurance is about?

I ordered a part from Mccarthy and their Nissan dealership on the 21st of July 2025, I was promised 15 - 21 working days to get the part, which would have been the 18th of August 2025, I was told that the part was at customs at this date. I still do not have the part as of writing this review (19th of September) and I get a call today that I have to wait for the 14th of October to get it. That 86 working days that I have to wait to HOPEFULLY get my part. This is atrocious service and needs to be addressed. I'd also recommend everyone reading this to stay away from Nissan and potentially Mccarthy if this is the service they are giving to their clients.
