CAPE GATE EMERGENCY SERVICES On 23 December 2025 my daughter took me there. I have chronic kidney disease CKD and was stung by a swarm of bees. Upon arrival I told the attendants, several times, that I have CKD and gave them the pouch with all my medication. The staff earned 5***** for friendliness and 0* for competence. It would take pages to explain what they did wrong - so herewith the most important aspects: (This information I googled on my return) 1. They used the wrong way to remove the stingers, thus more venum into the bloodstream 2. Nothing was dealt with timeously - a CKD requirement 3. Did not at any stage ask me to lie flat with legs elevated 4. Prescribed antihistamine not effective with CKD 5. Prescribed Prednisone which can only be used with on going medical management 6. Attendants did not introduce themselves or tell me what they will be doing. A standard requirement suggested by all the world renowned medical institutions.
It has been a standard procedure for me to Google all information about any treatment as soon as possible after receiving it. I will be posting on Facebook about this.
When I realised how inadequately I was treated, I went back to give them useful information and to get the treatment and medication details, for my CKD hospital visit. I spoke to Senior Professional Nurse Stevens. He listened and said they would e-mail the information. They did NOT. I also told him that to be stung by a swarm of bees is rare, however, the attendants could also have Googled for assistance!!! My recommendation is that you should not use this emergency facility.
