To whom it may concern I was referred to Melomed Bellvile for test and taking samples on the 19 March 2026. (Biopsy) They assessed me and took samples for testing of which they charged me R8424. As I am not in any medical aid, I had to go borrow money as I believe my life is worth than just money. I paid them R5000 in cash on card and made arrangements to pay the other amount off monthly. I also had to pay for a Mammogram that was R2350.00 which I paid in full. After that they said I have to go for biopsy which was R8424.00 of which I paid R5000.00 and still owe R3424.00 for the biopsy that I agreed on. I had to wait for my results which I had to go to my doctor for it the next week. After the results came back I thought I was done with Melomed as my results came back negative. “PRAISE GOD” To my surprise, I got an email from Pathcare the 30th March 2026 who send me a bill of R7551.90 that made me almost faint. I never had any dealings with Pathcare nor signed any agreements with them so why must I pay them. No one at Melomed informed, discussed or explained to me that they will take the samples and send it to Pathcare for testing and I also have to pay Pathcare separately. This is insane and open eye ******* that wants to make the poor poorer and the rich richer. I paid an amount at Melomed for my biopsy R5000 and made arrangement to pay the balance off so whatever dealing they have with Pathcare they must sort it out between them. I am extremely disappointed with the administration and case management services at Melomed Bellville. While the hospital is quick to accept payments from medical aids, their support completely falls apart when it comes to assisting patients and families with resolving medical aid queries or liaising with doctors. The case managers are unhelpful, unresponsive, and seem unwilling to take accountability. Pensioners, in particular, are being severely affected — being handed over or left stranded due to poor service and lack of proper assistance. It is unacceptable. I have been dealing with an ongoing issue since my father was admitted in October 2025, and despite numerous emails, calls, and follow-ups with both the case managers and the hospital manager, his accounts are still not fully resolved. To make matters worse, the hospital manager has not even had the courtesy to make direct contact — just empty promises and no action. This level of service is simply unacceptable. Whether it is due to lack of training or a complete disregard for patient care, the experience has been nothing short of frustrating and exhausting. Sadly, it feels like the latter. I would not recommend this facility based on the administrative support alone. Patients and their families deserve far better. Gwynneth Roberts

In 2023 a dr at Melomed asked for 2 authorizations from Bonitas for my shoulder operation. Only 1 procedure was approved. The dr nevertheless did both procedures. Melomed handed me over for debt collection of the second procedure which is over R40k. This is ********* and no way am i responsible for that account. Melomed hospital management never responded to my email that i wrote. Bonitas has declined the motivation both from the dr and from me. Melomed is stil insisting that i pay the bill.

Staff in ward, food and overall cleanliness I can't complaint about. I do however have huge issue with the hospital admin/ accounting side. I've never been to this hospital and still new to my medical aid, so when the dr said he wants to do a scope while in-hospital I requested to see the admin person working with medical auths. The admin guy came to me and I ask that he must please find out if there will be a scope co-payment and how much that would be, as I already knew I have a R4100 co-payment on MRI. He said he will find out as soon as possible. If there would be a co-payment I will be informed prior to scope. Nobody came back and the scope was done, just to be informed by another accounts lady, she was supposed to come and tell me prior to my procedure, but was too busy and couldn't get to me in time. Now a co-payment of +-R7900 is hanging over my head. I don't hear anything from the hospital unless I phone them and the accountant still can't tell me after 4 months what the hospital is going to do to fix their mistake. Huge disappointment

I gave birth the 25th of march and my divorce was not showing on the system for me to name my son under my surname however no one showed me in the maternity ward how to fill the birth form for Home affairs so I got to home affairs in Stellenbosch and they said I should’ve only put my ****en surname so I uber back to Bellville melomed to correct the form then back to Stellenbosch home affairs and finally the birth certificate was done however I didn’t check the date of birth on the birth certificate so when I took my son for his 6weeks follow up the date was showing the 3rd march 2025 and now because of melomed Bellville my son has to wait 12 months for his new and correct birth certificate and I wasted r1200 on just uber rides due to all the travelling up and down and the fact that I had a C-section so all the discomfort and pain I went through and now this I wouldn’t advise anyone to give birth at melomed Bellville because who is going to reimburse me for all the trouble I had to go through unnecessary

I love Melomed, but a few things are disturbing, or rather, one thing in particular. The noise levels in the wards are way much. There is the Loud speaking, of staff members, and then they gather at the entrancen to your room,. It is way to much for a sick person to handle. Now I am next to a patient who is on her phone consistently and also speaking at the top of her voice without considering the other people in the ward. The food is good, the kitchen staff very helpful and polite. The nursing staff if also very kind and helpful and really makes you feel loved and cared for. The health standard, as far as I have seen, is stringent and they exercise great caution to ensure that one is safe and protected. I will MM a whopping 8,5 out of 10. If only the noise levels could be controlled.
