Buyers beware – Michael's Designs customer service is non-existent.

A R35 watch battery, has resulted in R1,500 ordeal.

My wife took my watch (in perfect working condition) to Michael's Designs to have battery replaced (by “technician” Sebastian). The watch was collected the same day and we paid R35 for the watch battery. The following day I noticed that the watch face was misty and returned watch to Michael's Designs. On 12th February we were informed by Matthew Hulley that the seal was damaged and that the watch need to be serviced and water pressure tested by a 3rd party. The net result is that we were asked to pay R1,500 to have watch fixed. As reasonable folk, we offered to pay 50% of the repair costs, but Mathew insisted that ALL costs to be borne by us, as it was not Michael's Designs problem nor wrong doing by them.

This concerned us as 1) the watch was in perfect working condition when we took it in for battery replacement, and 2) when we collected the watch there was no mention that the seal was damaged.

Today, Saturday 4th March, I went to Michael's Designs to collect my watch. I asked Mathew as to what happened and why we were not informed that the seal was damaged when we collected the watch. Mathew responded that it was not their fault, and much to my dismay, says that Michael's Designs are not watch makers/specialists. He insisted that the watch can only be repaired by a 3rd party, and that we need to pay the costs of all repairs.

BUYERS BEWARE – based on our recent experience Michael's Designs takes no responsibility, have zero consideration for customers and are not trust worthy.

We do not recommend Michael's Designs - Facebook page

I took my Tag watch in for a battery change.
Its the first time since I bought it that I change the battery!
They gave it back to me badly scratched at the back. Im very very disappointed with these oaks. Rather get trained guys or send them away to someone that knows what they doing, if you want to keep your standards high.
I would have appreciate it if he had send me to the Tag Heuer agent just around the corner, as Im not familiar with the mall.
Dont try and make a sale for R100 and cause the client thousands of damage.!!!!!
