Unacceptable Deposit Refund

We moved into a complex managed by Montagu. 3-4 months later we canceled our contract due to horrible living conditions out of our control such as no hot water for a week. Problems kept coming up and soon we cancelled the lease. Management told us that the owner is going to keep the full deposit. We disputed it with Montagu and they spoke to the owner and she agree to give us half of the deposit. Two weeks later, Montagu has come back to us and has charged us for ridiculous things. Things that we had found in that apartment. They say we will only get R100 back from the deposit.

This is completely ridiculous as Montagu is merely trying to cheat us out of our money. They never made an effort to take our complaints seriously from the beginning. If I need to name the people I have been assisted by I can as I honestly feel Montagu doesn’t tell you things when you move but take every opportunity take your money once you move out.
