*************! Chris sold me a mini cooper that had been in 3 accidents . First 16 weeks of ownership, vehicle was in workshop for repairs total of 9 weeks . Vehicle sold with 4 run flat tyres , when none of the tyres were runflats . Despite numerous calls & emails , Chris simply avoided me . Registered Mini Cooper dealers confirmed that the vehicle history , available online to them , clearly indicated the accident history . My son’s first car was a dreadful experience thanks to dishonesty & I lost R100k in the process of selling the vehicle after owning it for 6 months. Lesson learnt , do not trust Monte Carlo Auto !!!

Disgusting service and treatment from this dealership. We paid close to R10,000 for licensing and registration and to date the license and natis have not been handed over months later. They are rude and aggressive and I wish I never bought the car from them. The other reviews show that they have no idea how to treat a customer

The sales team there are outright dishonest and cheats. Went to look at a vehicle with low millage & seemed to be in a great condition. We intentionally looked for signs of accident, panel beating or respray. Nothing. Car looked perfect aside from scratched on the front dashboard. So we were very serious to buy. (Blue Suzuki Vitara 1.6 gl+) Basco said it was a lady's vehicle that traded it for a nice merc. (gave the **** ladies name and the vehicle she bought from them - a well oiled story). Long story short we, fortunately, get a hold of the original owner. She said the vehicle was in a major accident and completely written off. The scratches on the dash was from the windscreen breaking. So the vehicle is a code 3. The fact that Monte Carlo had this lie ready tells us that they bought this vehicle from some insurance company and knew it is a code 3. Outright dishonest people and you should not do business with them! They're WILL lie to you, ***** your money and sell you a code 3 vehicle. For shame Monte Carlo!!

On 10 November 2023, I contacted Monte Carlo Auto in response to an online advert of theirs, for a 1997 Jaguar XJ6 40. The picture of the car in the advert, taken infront of the business looked very impressive, and ofcourse as a Capetonian, Sandton are seen as an upmarket part of JHB. The person on the other side of the line, introduced himself as Chris and he started telling me what a magnificent car this iwas. Apparently it was imported for an Ambassador who used it for a number of years, then it was bought by a "very well known" Architect of JHB and if I aquire this car, I would become the 3rd proud owner of this 100%, accident free, un******ed and original car, with a FSH to boot. I told him, that I will havectovtravel from Cape Town and drive yhe car back home. His response to that was " You can just get into this car and drive from Cape to Cairo" I asked him whether his asking price of R145k were negotiable as I'll have expenses flying to JHB and ofcourse the fuel costs driving her home. He agreed to give me a R5k discount, but that was it! I told him, that he must allow me time to think it over. Monday, 13th he sent me a WhatsApp, telling me that he valet the car and is throwing in a new battery as part of the deal. I called him on Monday evening, but he never took my call, so I left a voice message, informing him that I am considering flying to JHB on the 1st flight on the morning of Wednesday 15th as I intend to immediately drive back to CapeTown. I also asked him if he could meet me or send somebody to meet me at O.R.Tambo airport. He almost immediately responded via WhatsApp, that he will be expecting me, but made no mention of picking me up at the airport, and I let it there. I asked my friend / mechanic, Shawn,Gietzmann to accompany me on the trip, to i) Check out the car ii) To help me with driving it back to CPTN. On our arrival in JHB, we took a Uber to the dealership. During the drive I got busy on my phone, attending to emails, etc. I could not believe my eyes when the driver announced that we have reached our destination, as this was nothing but a cheap, low class used car sales lots, with all sorts of old neglected looking cars, squeezed into the available space. Our Uber parked on a sand patch outside the gates, and I immediately became suspicious, and told our driver to wait for us, this before I even saw the car I am supposed to buy! As we alighted from the Uber, we were approached by a guy wearing a torn straw hat, who introduced himself as Chris. I then saw the car, parked exactly on the same spot as on the internet pic. The difference was, that it looked nothing as impressive in reality as the picture was cleverly taken with the car parked below the Monte Carlo Auto name board, with a glass background, which consisted of a tiny "showroom" As we approached the car, I could immediately see that the car was involved in a front smash, because the bumper was not properly aligned and the entire bonnet has been repainted, but so poorly an amateurly done, that a blind person would've been able to detect it, by feeling over the surface! The entire car had horrible paint chip marks, minor dents, rear bumper damage and worst of all, the roof paint was cracking, which is a clear indication of body filler which could've been another backyard repair done to cover hail damage! The first item Chrisxwas proud to show me was the new battery in the boot! Another shock awaited me when I opened the bonnet! The tappet covers were hastingly resprayed with spray can silver. Whoever attempted the this cover up, did not even bother to prepare the surface properly and yhe paint started making bubbles! The interior, which he claimed was "as good as new" he acknowledge that it was refurbished by Colorglo, only after I pointed out to him that it has been resprayed with vinyl spray! I was not even interested in test driving the car, because after I pointed out all the flaws and imperfections just on the body and he could not give me a proper explanation for any of my questions, I decided to walk away from the deal and rather lose R11k+ ( because I had to book flights back to CPTN and stay over in a hotel before we could fly back home.) In conclusion, this Chris character is a dishonest person, who give used car salesmen that stereotypes image of not to be trusted and bullsh*****! Be warned of this dealership, I wont even buy a 2nd hand wheelbarrow from them!!!

I’ve had a similar experience to most clients who have left a report on this platform. Bought a Mitsubishi in august from Chris, the car lost power as it drove, lots of noises and vibrations from the engine whilst driving etc. He then replaced the car with a Nissan Murano. Less than months later, the car doesn’t travel above speeds of 80 kmp/h , and electrical issues, loss of power, loud noises from the engine. Took it to Nissan in Durban, and was told the timing chain was broken and needed to be replaced, and gearbox is also broken and needs to be replaced. To date we have spent R40 000 on the car and it is still not fixed. Endless promises from Chris who requested I send an email to “management” despite him being the manager/ owner. He now does not respond to messages or calls. Definitely going to be reporting this dealership to the ombudsman.

A bunch of ******!!!!!! I bought a 2019 Ford Ecosport from Chris, that claimed that this car is clean and in 100% good condition, accident free, at the end of May 2023 for my daughter who is a student, the car was delivered without a manual, jack and spanner, which I received a few days later. I was charged R6500-00 for licensing and registration yet I did and pay for all as I am in Nelspruit. On her first trip to Nelspruit she complained that whilst driving it lost power, I immediately alerted Chris, to no avail. The car has now been more at the Mechanical workshop than with my daughter after it broken down completely which include: broken engine mounting on driver side, both gearbox mountings broken, turbo broken, brakes failed due to brake booster pipe glued with pratley steel, rat bite marks on the water bottle and possible wiring issues as well, which Chris claimed he didn’t see, etc etc. This car has cost me now over R50 000-00 and is still not fixed. I’m not sure if this car was build up by them or what but they simply refuse to take responsibility for anything. Legal proceedings, including involving Wesbank will now start!!This is the most dishonest car dealership in South Africa!! Stay away!!!!

In 2019 September, I bought a Mercedes Benz E350 Bluetec from Monte Carlo Auto (Hurlingham, Johannesburg). The Salesman was Thulie. The Sales Manager or Sales Supervisor was Chris. The car did not have a spare key. I signed the contract of the car on condition that they promised to pay for the spare key with Mercedes-Benz. After buying the car, I sent Chris a quotation (+R6000) from Mercedes-Benz Sandton, as he had requested, and he indicated that I can take the car to Mercedes-Benz Sandton, they would pay for the spare key. But on two occasions in 2019 I had booked for the spare key service and wanted written confirmation that they would pay the invoice when I collect the car in the afternoon, he would ignore my phone messages, calls and emails. I tried reaching him in 2020, 2021, 2022 and this year 2023 in July we finally spoke, where Chris indicated to me that they (Monte Carlo Auto) had ordered and paid for the spare key back then, and that he would check on the key and revert back to me. Now as I write this review it is towards end of August 2023 and he has since ignored my phone calls and emails I sent to him regarding the matter. I have now written to the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa, and hopefully they would help. I even have an email and voicenote of Chris committing to the spare key issue yet now he is playing hide and seek. Totally unprofessional service. I am in a process of also approaching other online platforms to give them maximum bad exposure that they deserve.
