This insurance company that Econo Trans used to insure our personal items was the worst I have ever had to deal with. We insured all our contents for only R100 000.00, which at that moment was the highest that we could afford. So the total had to be divided into a few different items just to have atleast some of all our contents covered in case of total loss that we would not sit with nothing. As the devil would have wanted it, on the day of delivery 4 months after we arrived in New Zealand and an entire box of our inventory was lost! Not delivered. This was the only box which I think was targeted because all the other boxes had normal spanners, ***** drivers, ratchets sets and sockets etc. and bottles with nuts and bolts and pipes and fittings in. This box had my husbands most expensive tools in like Diesel compression tester, break bleeding system, transmission spring compress tools, oil pressure test kit, dead blow hammer, magnetic part trays and a few other items. And now its lost. He is a Diesel Mechanic and that is the main reason why we brought the tools over. Now this Insurance company comes with a story saying we had 8 boxes of tools that the total amount insured was R20 000. So they divided it by the 8 boxes and came to R2500 per box. So this is more than the excess amount so the tools lost is not covered. We sent them quotes of the amount it would cost to replace the lost items and it came up to more than R20 000 but we were willing to cut our losses on the rest that would not be paid our. We also had a few damaged items that were broken and taken out of other boxes but did take photos of it before I disposed of it, as I was not planning on putting in a claim because I thought they would have found the missing box but in the end it was not found.
