I’m really not happy with the service that I’m getting from this hostel as I am still waiting for my refund. 7 to 14 days has passed and yet no payment received. I would never recommend anyone to book this place.

In January 2024 my friend booked Never@home Kloof Street for a period 1-18 Feb 2024 for a rental amount of R18800.00 which she paid. She could not take occupation at the time as she became deadly ill to the point where her mother was contacted to come down on an emergency flight from the UK (proof can be provided) as her daughter was dying. Due to ill health her daughter canceled the booking ( the policy as I have confirmed telephonically states that u must cancel 0-3 days before you take occupation). I have spoken to Ruth and I have contacted the Netherlands branch, who were very sympathetic pertaining to a refund being favorable. What are my next steps as to date my friend has still not received a refund. Who do we take this up with or lodge this complaint with. Is their a governing body?

In January of this year, my friend booked for a period 1 to 18 February 2024 and paid R18800.00 for stay at the Kloof Street branch of Never@home. She could not take occupation as she got deadly ill and had to have emergency medical care. Her mom flew from the UK as she was told her daughter was dying. She canceled her stay at Never@home a week before on booking.com. I also spoke to RUTH but no refund was received to this day. I phoned the Netherlands and they were sympathetic and agreed a refund should be done. To date still nothing. Please someone intervene. This was a medical emergency and could not be foreseen. I was told the cancelation policy is if you cancel 0-3 days before you take occupation then you can get a refund.

I tried to check in with my California driver's license and the receptionist Jenine said I was not allowed and that I am basically *****ed. I told her I can provide photos of my passport and she said not acceptable and that I should check the requirements on the bookiong.com listing. So I did, it said photo ID, which is exactly what a California driver's license is. She was rude, unapologetic, and treated me like a criminal for a booking I paid in advance. Her behavior was deplorable and I am absolutely disgusted by how I was treated in front of other guests there. Further, I tried to contact management through booking.com messaging and even facebook and got no response. It was not until I contacted booking.com directly that things started happening. It was an awful awful experience. I travel all over the world and have stayed in 100's of hotels and this was the first time in my life that I was treated this way. Disgusting.

If I could give a zero right now I would. I spoke to reception about not calling me out in front of other guest as I can afford to stay at Never@home and have stayed here before and paid for my stay...I gave them my credit card and said I'm deciding if I still wanted to stay here as there are clear double standards with them asking the South Africans in front of other guest when they Are going to pay for their next stay when they weren't asking any foreign guest the same questions which has been similar before as they insisted SA citizens paid in full before staying while foreign guest admitted they could pay when they checked out. I had staff ask me to show them proof of payment before me staying even though I paid in full on booking.com...I showed bank statements before being allowed up to my bedroom. I left my bank card with a staff member strictly stating "please do not have conversations about extending my stay with me in front of guest (as they did so with another South African occupant) I said to them I was thinking of extending my stay from the 25th of December to the end of December. I then got a message attached to my card which I wish I could upload stating "left her bank card of fear of spending all her her money before she extended" instead of what was in fact spoken about which was keep my card as proof that I will pay for the rest of the month." disgusted as I've been a regular and let **** slide before but enough is enough this place is getting away with too much.
